Tariel

Guisburn Nivalis x Mikenah

Kehailan Rodan

Pure-bred Arabian colt

Date of birth: 26 October 2004

Tariel at 7 months old

Tariel is Nivalis and Tiff (Mikenah)'s first foal. Tiff was scanned in foal in July 2003, but later absorbed the foetus. She and Nivalis were running out together, and in October of 2003 she conceived again. The result was Tariel!

He is named after the hero of a magnificent medieval epic poem of what is now the republic of Georgia, an ancient kingdom with an amazingly rich culture. Vepkhistqaosani, the Knight in the Panther's Skin, was written in the 13th Century by the Georgian poet Shot'a Rust'aveli. For more about Rust'aveli and his poem, see Aleko Mikaberidze's website devoted to Georgia, his homeland, the land of the legendary Golden Fleece.

The 3 photographs below were taken four days afterTariel was born.
