The 1s restricted Dunstable 2s to the score of 201 - 7 from there 53 overs with Paras taking another 3 wickets. They then proceeded to lose 2 quick wickets but the 2 Marks then proceeded to take us home with a partnership of 163. Mark Dyer was out for 78 which brought in stand in Captain Paul Beverstock who then proceeded to bat for his average whilst Mark Gentle knocked off the balance of the runs. I asked the question if Abbot was missed and the consensus was a resounding NO!!!!!! My source in the first team who will remain anonymous said " he normally only bowls one over for lots of runs is batting at nos 9 and lets face it he is getting old and he is not in the side for his fielding"
The 4s had an exciting finish. They were chasing 170 to win after a good display in the field with the wickets getting spread evenly around. Although I am told that Sam Roberts did not get any. They then proceeded to chase the target down. Aaron produced his highest score for the club 74 so congratulations to him. I went to watch the first team for a bit as I thought they were cruising. I went back over to see Frizz striding out. This cant be a good sign I thought. I looked at the scoreboard and we were 167 -9. The huge crowd that had gathered watched with baited breath as Frizz blocked the first one with fielders crowding the bat. Then the next ball Frizz had a big swing got a fat outside edge which somehow missed the fielders and went for 4.Game over. I am very glad I was going out that evening so I did not have to listen to Frizz all night as he got a couple of wickets as well. Special mention to Dan Saunders who adds to his bizarre injury list as he was caught off his head.
The 2s played Old Chomleans away this was a top of the table clash. Jack did not have the best starts to the day and was getting stressed at the club. Once I had calmed him down and after leaving 30 mins later than intended he proceeded to drive up and down the road 5 times trying to find the entrance to the ground.
The wicket was not looking good and Jack decided to field. The opposition openers came out to bat and after the first over we thought how are these third in the league?? We took wickets regularly and fielded well. I think we only dropped one catch (well done skips). Barry cleaned out the top order and finished with 6 13 off 13. Pavlav finished off the tail with a slower ball and 2 yorkers and they were all out for 66. Geordie and I strode out to the wicket and out and put on 38 for the first wicket. That means we should have cruised to victory but Logie. Tricky and Ben decided that it was a team game and the batsmen lower than them needed some practice. We ended up getting them for 5 wickets down. With Geordie getting 28 and myself getting 19. Kay again saw us home. Special mention to Tom Simons who gets the special TFC award after only bowling 3 overs. We would also like to thank one of their regular players who got married that day so they had 9 players missing. What a shame. I asked my team mates if they missed Steve Waller this week and they said a resounding YES!!! There was no-one to take the mick out of.
There is a vicious rumour going around that Steve Waller is not really on Holiday this week. He heard that the sides for the next 2 weeks had girl bowlers and it would be better decline to play than be embarrassed again.
3s Lost. You only get press if you win or do something really stupid.
Popped up to the club on Sunday and was impressed of the mixture of young and old that were playing. Although the average age of the side was 42 with Pat, Abbot and Wilky playing. They won comfortably with runs from Simon and Ben.
The 1s remain top and extended their lead with the other results going their way. 2s remain second but are playing the top side on Saturday.
Can the 3s please win as I have not seen a Wilky smile for a few weeks?
Keep up the good work this week and let me know of any gossip or things that are worth mentioning.
