WX Rosedale moved to the top of Division 3 thanks to a comfortable victory over Hemel Hempstead II at Andrews Lane on Saturday.
Despite the overcast conditions, Rosedale captain, Paul Fuller elected to bat first only to see his side slump to 27 for 3 in the sixteenth over. A 58 partnership between Mark Dyer and Kuldip Parmar (10) went some way to vindicating his decision but Dyer's dismissal for a patient 85 saw the score subside to 126/7. Any chance of a low innings total was avoided, however, as Kevin Day hit 45 from only 43 balls to post a competitive 185 for 8.
Rosedale opened their attack with spin at both ends and Hemel were soon in disarray as Mark Gentle (4 for 15) and Paras Patel (1 for 11) reduced the visitors to 26 for 5. A change of bowlers brought no respite as Hemel were dismissed for only 56 with Fuller, Day and Lewis Bullock sharing the remaining wickets.
