Reason 21 : "Apple don't make the kind of Mac I want"

Validity level: * * * * *

Apple is but one manufacturer. They have a range of PCs from small and integrated consumer boxes, to professional workstation towers, to server racks, to some very handsome laptops.

See 'Which Mac?' for a brief look at the current Macintosh range.

However, in their position of being the last remaining mainstream non-Windows PC provider, they stand alone against a plethora of other PC manufacturers and build it yourself enthusiasts, making hundreds of different specifications, shapes, sizes, configurations, and niche products, all combined to make up the Windows PC platform. One manufacturer can only do so much, and cannot please everyone...

Gaps

There are perceivable gaps in the range. They don't make consumer level, big box PCs. They don't make tiny sub-notebooks. They don't make 'Shuttle-like' PCs. They don't make tablet PCs. And most of all, they don't make budget spec, budget bundled, budget quality, budget built PCs.

So if you absolutely must have a computer of particular type or size or spec, within a budget that Apple covers in its range, then I guess you'll need to look to some other brand that does. You'll just have to forgo the option of Mac OS. Whether that's more or less important to you, that's up to you to decide.
