Reasons why not to go Macintosh

Disclaimer – "Hey Mr Angry, consider this..."

Go to: Index

As you've probably guessed, my home computing platform of choice is a Macintosh. For my own personal needs and wants, the benefits of that choice outweigh the negatives. But I am big and ugly enough (albeit more of the latter than the former) to acknowledge that not everyone has the same priorities as me, and my choices may not be as good for you as they are for I.

As such, in this site, I have tried to be as balanced in my views as I can be, with any anecdotal observations or expressed opinions – I'd hope – reasonably educated ones. But of course, any points made that are opinions, it's entirely reasonable to suggest they should not be taken as absolute without also checking other sources which may arrive at a differing conclusion.

"You're full of shhhh..."

As surprising as it may sound to 'normal' folk, this whole topic is actually a traditionally touchy subject for some. Internet forums are full of Mac verses PC arguments, each with their own evangelistic fanboys, unwaveringly fighting their corner while denigrating proponents of the other. It is these 'enthusiastic' individuals who will most likely be able to raise counter-points to many issues raised in this site. But sometimes it's hard for certain noisy and opinionated individuals to accept that their opinions are not universally shared. The very tech-savvy for instance, can often find it difficult to put themselves in the shoes of the average consumer who may not be as comfortable with or knowledgeable about computers as they are, or indeed care either way about.

As such, I hope that any counter-arguments bear this diversity of people's needs, wants, and abilities in mind, and are well thought out and relevant. Wholesale dismissal based on little more than attempted discrediting of the author – i.e. me – thereby avoiding having to tackle the points made on their own merits, will hold little credibility outside of your own similarly arrogant, judgemental, narrow minded kin.

Hit me!

But if you really do think I'm so misinformed about any issue in particular, and you feel you must set me straight, then please feel free to add your comments to the page in question. Make a good argument, and I'll add your perspective into the mix. Behave arrogantly, derogatorily, and juvenile, and I reserve the right to make fun of you.

Or of course, praise and reinforcement also welcome... obviously! [grin]

Kind regards
Wayne Stuart

Note: Important note: The majority of this site assumes you are looking at a recent Intel based Mac. If you are looking at an older PowerPC based Mac, some of the analysis may not be as relevant.
