Our company is well established. We know that namesakes of the male line of the family provided 4 Sheriffs of Nottingham in the 1500`s - the period when the REV. WILLIAM LEE was inventing his STOCKING FRAME (fore-runner of lace machines). We also know that ancestors were associated with ST MARYS - Nottingham's Mother Church located at the centre of the area which became known as THE LACE MARKET, in fact an ancestorsl burial in the grave yard is recorded there. The 1851 National Census , confirms our family as Framework Knitters (early lace makers) lace is in our genes
