MINUTES OF THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 2007

President’s Report

Paul Hudson congratulated the Club members on another successful year. He referred to several particularly well attended and adventurous meets, for example, the snow holing meet, North Wales Meet, Scafell Meet, Lyke Wake Walk. He thanked the membership for their support of the meets and for generating the ideas of where to go. He made special comment to Gareth M for his suggestion of the Lyke Wake Walk and thanked the support crew of James and Caroline Corden, without whom we would still be somewhere passing Fylingdales Early Warning Station. He congratulated John on his retirement and thanked him for organising a special walk from North to South across the North York Moors.

 

Secretary’s Report

Steve Girt presented the Secretary’s Report for 2006. He reported that there were no AGMs held since 2002 nor Committee meetings and no membership fees collected in the last few years. All these break the Club Rules. He suggested that we make a special effort to keep the club running according to the Rules for the benefit of all members and friends.

 

Web Site – James Corden has developed a new website which will eventually be merged with the existing one

                                        

Meet Organisations – a great deal of effort has been spent organizing the Club’s Meets throughout the year.

 

Treasurer’s Report

Steve B gave the Treasurers report. The Club is in a financially healthy position with no liabilities and an account balance of £285

 

 

Election of Officers

The Club’s three officers were re-elected unopposed

Paul was proposed as President by John and seconded by JT

Steve was proposed by Paul H and seconded by John

Steve B was proposed as Treasurer by Paul H and seconded by John

 

Meets for the coming Year

A short discussion was held to raise suggestions for meet locations for the coming year. The following locations were suggested:-

Blencathra

Borrowdale weekend camping

Bala Rafting

Glencoe

Braemar for the Winter Meet

South Shiel Ridge Meet

He Secretary will publish a full itinerary later

 

Motions

  1. A proposal to change the club rules was passed 7 votes to 1. The changes are:-

 

New Rules

3.4        Only the Membership shall be entitled to attend events of the Club, with the exception of 3.5 below.

3.5        Any Member of the Club shall be entitled to invite a guest to a maximum of three Club events. The inviting Member shall be responsible for the actions and well-being of the guest. 

 

 

Modified Rules

5.1 The elected Officers of the Club shall be the President, the Secretary, and the Treasurer, hereinafter referred to as "the Officers".

7.1               The Committee shall have the power to set membership subscription levels for the Club on an annual basis. For the year 2007 the subscriptions are £10 for individual member and £3.50 for concessions or social membership.

 

 

Deleted Rules

6.3. The Committee shall nominate a representative (or representatives) of the Club to attend MCI Council Meetings/BMC Area meetings and represent the views of the Membership and shall nominate the President (or a representative) to attend the MCI/BMC AGM and vote on behalf of the Club.

7.2. Each full member is required to pay a deposit of £10 at the beginning of each membership year. This is to allow the Club a reasonable working fund from which to book huts. The deposit is refundable at the end of each membership year providing no losses have been incurred.

 

BMC Membership

A short debate was held to discuss renewing Club Mmebership of the BMC. The motion was passed 10 votes to 1
