The Club t-shirts
are on the way. All the designs and transfers have been purchased.
Paul Hudson gave a
brief summary of the year’s activities. He highlighted the number and variety
of meets and mentioned the good turnout despite the Foot and Mouth crisis. In
particular the potholing and the North Wales hut meets were cited as
particularly memorable occasions. He thanked all members for taking part and
looked forward to another successful year.
Steve Girt presented
the Secretary’s Report for 2001-2002. The Secretary’s responsibilities
currently cover minute taking, correspondence, managing the Club’s website,
organizing meets, and membership applications:-
Meetings – 3
committee meetings have been held through the year. Minutes of these meetings
are published on the website. Topics for discussions have included outstanding
membership fees, Club t-shirts, Saturday versus Sunday meets, Club Treasurer.
Correspondence – There has been frequent
correspondence with the BMC regarding such issues as a Club representative at
the Yorkshire and Humberside Area Meetings (PH), , Membership, Insurance, Foot
and Mouth, and Huts. The Club also receives advertisements and news from
organizations such as Training Centres, Courses, Retailers and Equipment
manufacturers. Those organisations that advertise their services through the
post and have websites have links to their website placed on the Wok and Rice
homepage. Membership of the BMC includes a monthly copy of High Mountain
Sports. Each individual member should also receive a personal copy of Summit
magazine.
Web Site – the Club website continues to grow with
added links and meeting minutes. However, there is a distinct lack of
contributions from club members (probably because the secretary ends up
organising all the meets). He looked forward to receiving more reports in
future so the club could keep a historical record of past events.
Meet Organisations – a great deal of effort has been
spent organizing the Club’s Meets throughout the year. The Secretary has
organised 9 out of the 13 weekend meets including 3 hut meets (to Scotland and
Wales (2)).
New Members – The club membership stands at 31. This
is made up of 18 full members, 9 concessions and 4 social members. New members
this last year were Gareth, Luke Pope, Mike and Stella
The President
presented the Treasurer’s Report. The Balance Sheet showed a closing balance
£3.84 less than the opening balance. The Debtors are those members who paid
into the Slush Fund but didn’t attend the Scotland Meet. Their £10 credit will
be knocked off their 2002-2003 membership fees. The difference between the trip
fees and accommodation fees can be explained by the use of £90 of the Slush
Fund as trip fees (plus £96 of last year’s fees).
The President
still has one year of his term left to stand. The Secretary was elected
unopposed. Steve Burras was elected as Treasurer. He was proposed by Steve Girt
and seconded by Wil.
The meeting
concluded with an open discussion on the subject of meets for the coming year.
These will be published on the club website under meetslist.htm
