Lectures

I am currently continuing with most of the lectures put together jointly with Derry. Most of thelectures include discussion of various photographic techniques . A number of these lectures are related to our travels, however we described them as our photography in ……, rather than a travelogue. I am in the process of compiling a Retrospective evening of Derry's photography to show alongside some of my recent images.

Aspects of Nature Photography
Aspects of Nature Photography is not just a collection of successful pictures. We show you our approach to nature photography and include different ways to photograph a subject. We have a number of sets of pictures so you can see for yourself the options, not just our preferred results. You will have the opportunity to look through some of the less common lenses. The evening also includes some of our favourite images and ends with our ARPS panels.

400m to 4000m in Nepal
400 to 4000 meters takes you from the Terai to the people and culture of the Kathmandu Valley and then through the Kumbu and its Sherpa people towards Everest. Rosemary has a cousin living in Kathmandu and this gave us the opportunity to spend a month in Nepal. The government asks visitors not to give money to the people and whilst some did not wish to be photographed for personal or religious reasons we found them very friendly and approachable and enjoyed photographing them and their environment. Th second part takes you on our trek to 4,100 metres. Despite carrying less equipment than usual it was quite a challenge but a wonderful experience. Our group were very well looked after by our Nepalese team and as the only photographers we were always bringing up the rear, walking on our own with a sherpa to keep us on the route.

Rajasthan and Beyond
Rajasthan and Beyond has grown out of our original talk titled Aspects of Rajasthan. We made our second visit in 1999 in which we ventured outside Rajasthan to include the Taj Mahal and Veranasi. The areas we have visited are full of colour and usually plenty of light. Most of the people are very friendly but there are many demands for 1 roupee, 1 pen, 1 chocolate. Sweets for the children are nutritious and do not disrupt the economy of the people. The people, railways, the desert and its camels, Pushkar camel fair and the Ganges are amongst the aspects that you will see.

Just Slides
Just Slides is a selection of some of our successful exhibition slides together with those which we just like. It shows images across our many interests of landscape, natural history, sport, people or anything that takes either eye. Tasters for some other talks are included. The content is constantly changing so that we can include some of our recent images.
