Bridleway 47 Riseley
Bridge over Harpers Brook, Lowick
Bridge over the Brook, High Street, Yelden
Path from Yelden to Newton Bromswold
Path at Anglia Water Sewage Works, Ditchford
| This bridleway had only been possible to use by a few intrepid walkers due to a decrepit bridge over Riseley brook. A padlocked gate at the road and no signpost deterred users. One of our members kept on at Bedfordshire County Council for many years until at last during last summer a splendid new bridge was provided and the bridleway opened. | |

Bridge over Harpers Brook, Lowick
|
The bridge over the brook carrying public footpath NH6 collapsed some 20 years ago forcing walkers to use an alternative route through the village of Lowick. Due to other problems on the path and the alternative routes being considered, the NCC stalled on replacing the bridge.
Richard served a Section 56 Order* on them on 1st February 2000. In reply the NCC set a target to provide a new bridge in 2003/4 subject to finance. The new bridge was erected in 2004 on a more suitable part of the brook bank. A few minor diversions were carried out which took the path to the Pocket Park to further improve the enjoyment of the path. |

The group had reported to Bedfordshire County Council several times that the bridge erected by a nearby resident was no longer safe for use. In the spring of 2005 a new bridge was erected and a very minor diversion confirmed. This was due to the persistance of the group. |

Path from Yelden to Newton Bromswold
| After many years of complaining, Bedfordshire County Council has erected a kissing gate on this path. After crossing the brook from the Rifle Range field you had to climb an awkward sheep netting and barbed wire fence to get into the field leading up to The Bungalow. Not any more you won't! | |

Path at Anglia Water Sewage Works, Ditchford
| The public footpath that crossed the access road at the main gate was obstructed when Anglia Water constructed a weighbridge outside the main works and fenced it off. This caused an illegal diversion of 160 yards to get to the other side of the access. Richard reported this to the NCC and the fence sections across the public footpath were removed. | |
