The early morning and late evening flights between Skavsta and
Tampere have been cancelled.
There is now only one scheduled
flight per day between Tampere and Skavsta.

13:35 at Tampere (Tammerfors) 31/07/03
Depart 14:00 Tampere. 04/08/03 Arrive14:00 Skavsta. 04/08/03
This makes a total mess of the schedule below. I have checked
and found that it costs GBP 15:00 to change flights each way plus
any change in fares if you want to fly at different times on the
Stansted to Skavsta route. Although the Stansted to Skavsta and
return flights are on different days from the Skavsta to Tampere
flights, they are treated as "connecting" flights. RyanAir
will accept no responsibility for making a previous flight valueless
if another flight is changed or cancelled. This is a mockery because
the only flights to Tampere are from Skavsta so it could be claimed
by RyanAir that ANY flight from Skavsta to Tampere - even a month
later - is a connecting flight!

Note that many Finnish cities have two names. The common one is
the Finnish name but there is often a Swedish name too.
Turku is also known as Åbo (roughly aw-boo) and Tampere
is also known as Tammerfors (nearly tammer force).
A Suggested Itinerary
All times are in local time. Sweden is one hour ahead of Britain
and Finland is one hour ahead of Sweden. This why one can fly
from Tampere to Skavsta in no time at all. :-)

The best info that I have so far found
with respect to the buses from Tampere Pirkkala airport is that
the airport is around 11km from the station. I have not yet got
any fare information. I guess that the one way fare will be around
EUR 2.50. Train fares vary a little but the range is not large
for 2nd class between Tampere and Turku.

I am sending asurface mail letter to RyanAir to query the bus
departure times from Tampere station to Pirkkala airport.
The train service was well established before RyanAir started
the flights to and from Tampere. Trains that run 2 hourly from
Turku to Tampere arrive at 19:47 or 21:47. As you can see, the
scheduled airport bus departure time is 21:45.
