Increasing Numbers
When the discussion was over, shopping parties were organised
to obtain decorations, props and real costumes on Sunday morning.
It was agreed that the blindfolded candidates should feel that
they were given costumes to wear so that they would not realise
that their bodies would be altered to suit.
Sunday evening's proceedings are not included in this transmission. A separate transmission is available that includes very detailed scenes showing how the four Spacers were recruited to the crew. Sunday 18/04/94 late evening
Undepoldus returned long before the initiation ceremony and its
associated events came to an end. He and Marita revelled in the
way the various incidents brought pleasure and jollity. Tun Wong
and Annie resumed their hellish forms for their own amusement
after the initial part of the ceremony had been completed. Boku
was quietly asked by Undepoldus if she would like to have her
natural hands restored. She realised that as her disguises could
be perfect, she would have less need of mechanical hands. Her
other powers would serve in some ways to replace what she had
relied on her hands to do. She could, if needed, force an attacker
to use a weapon against himself. She could make a person's eyelids
grow to induce blindness or she could seal a person's ears to
cause deafness. She could calm a person mentally and supply phantom
comfort as a distraction. Her strong hands were not really needed
anymore.
Undepoldus told her that her new hands would grow over the course of a month or two. She should exercise them and practice doing things that required precision and delicacy of touch. Undepoldus suggested that she should use Kerstin's old cabin while her new hands grew. George and Kerstin would provide her with all the help she needed. Tun Wong said that she would be given immediate sick leave and she could spend it where and how she wanted to.
Anne-Marie had had no inkling of the reason why she had been
called to Undepoldus House. She had assumed that Undepoldus wanted
to see her before he left on his travels. After the main part
of the ceremony was over, she said to Tun Wong. "I think
that I will have to resign as a Spacer. I have always been a share
addict and now I feel that every minute I am awake and not sharing
is wasted."
He said. "Join the club. I think that we should devise a
way to share while we are asleep."
Boku found that modified stumps had their advantages and made
good use of them before the frolics came to an end.
Annie and Jane spent some time practising imitating each other's
faces. Then Jane suggested that Annie should also practice looking
like Gurprit for the times when she wanted to disappear discreetly.
Gurprit helped by showing Annie how he walked and moved. He shared
with Jane so that Annie could feel what it was like to be him.
Tun Wong was flabbergasted when two Gurprits asked him for a share. He relaxed when one turned into Annie and was happy to share with her. Then Gurprit told him that he has chosen the wrong one. The real (?) Annie thought that it was highly amusing.
Monday 19/04/2094
The following morning Tun Wong congratulated George, Kerstin and
the rest of the crew for the way they organised the initiation
ceremony. Annie said that it was the most frightening and enjoyable
time she had ever had. She said that she could now make arrangements
for any members of the group who visited Sweden in the future.
Her new abilities would enable her to appear to be someone else
very easily and disappear for a night of pleasure. The companionship
of the crew would make her official job much more bearable. Anne-Marie
said that she would take a fortnight's leave to stay in London
so that she could take part in as many future ceremonies as possible.
She was delighted with her ability to change gender and to enjoy
sharing comfort with some of the other girls in the crew. She
arranged with Ivan that her cabin would have an open door for
any member of crew at any time.
Undepoldus arranged that Marita's students would arrive in groups of four starting the following night. They were not told of the real purpose of their visit. Kerstin's Marita said that she would love to see them all again and they would have a chance to spend a night with Undepoldus.
Tun Wong and Annie said that they would try to attend two of
the ceremonies.
The other initiation ceremonies are not included in this transmission.

Monday 26/04/94
After all the students had been initiated, Undepoldus Marita said.
"I have tried to analyse the usual markers that give an indication
of how you are doing. They show that you are either not ageing
at all or you are getting younger. George, your fertility has
increased slightly. Undepoldus and I are worried about Anne-Marie.
As a male, she seems to be fertile. We want to see her to check."
Undepoldus said. "George and Kerstin, I have been trying
to find out why you have my gifts. You are the only two who have
the ability. You can only do this when sharing comfort. Your friends
who have been given new powers cannot pass on their powers to
others. I know that you have wondered how long your powers will
last. I cannot tell you. I know that your ability has maintained
its effectiveness with all those you have initiated. Marita thinks
that you would lose your powers if you tried to impart them to
me. I am programmed to save the lives of intelligent entities
and to make these entities happy. It is consistent with my programming
that someone will remain on Earth to take my place when I leave.
I have studied the way Derek's staff have reacted to my contact
with them. They have all acquired the desire to make others happy.
They do not have the stamina that is a part of your powers. Nevertheless,
they have gained stamina by sharing comfort frequently. They all
share comfort with each other as routinely as they would have
drunk coffee previously.
The recreation centre has been enlarged to provide enough space
for 100 couples to share comfort at the same time. Derek has told
me that you two will be treated as honoured guests whenever you
go the company. He did not say it but I know that he and his partner
Samantha want to share with you again. He told me that visitors
to the company feel the happiness of the staff and are curious
about it when they leave. He wants to know how to arrange for
new people to join the company when I have left. He has been offered
much more work than he can handle with his present staff and would
like to expand. At the same time he does not know how to take
on new staff and integrate them into the ways of his present workforce.
He does not want the happy community of workers to be spoiled
by recruiting unsuitable people. I can visit him once more before
I leave and examine 50 job applicants for him and I can examine
a few more applicants here. I would like you two to be able to
check new applicants as well as I can. I want my work with Derek
to continue after I leave. Would you do it as a favour to me?"
Kerstin said. "Undepoldus, you should know that George and
I will do anything we can to help you. Now you have asked us I
know that you can sense our answer before we say it. We will visit
Derek's company and try to do what you have done. If we can do
it for you, you will not have to worry about Derek's recruiting
problems anymore."
George said. "You have given Kerstin and me many powers.
We know that we can use them selectively. In fact, that is how
Kerstin found out that we had them. She wished Gurprit well when
he was ill. We did not wish him young until later. I think that
we might be able to pass on to Derek and some of his staff the
power to heal sickness and injury. You healed all his staff that
were ill to make sure that they were free of all infections and
disabilities. You were also able to make them feel that sharing
happiness was the right thing to do. I think that we should try
to pass on just these powers so that Derek will no longer need
your services or ours."
Kerstin said. "There is one more power that would be useful
to give. George and I can only give health and longevity while
sharing comfort. Derek and his interviewers will need a way to
persuade a nervous job applicant to share comfort. We made Mike
very keen to share with me before he arrived. He is a Spacer so
he was expecting to share anyway. I think that it could be done
as easily with a non-Spacer if it was required."
Undepoldus said. "Kerstin and George, I like your suggestions.
I would like both of you to share while I am in contact with you.
Marita and I will try to analyse your existing powers and add
to them if it is possible. I think that making people feel at
ease when they are with you would be relatively simple, knowing
you as I do. Other things may be more difficult. These include
suspending fertility for a short period and the power to transfer
the ability to cure simple diseases. We will see what can be done."
George said. "You have seen how we can change our body shapes
and grow new organs. Those we have passed on powers to can do
the same. Changing our own bodies enables us to match our appearance
to our chronological age among other things. We can appear to
be different people. We now have some telepathic ability. Kerstin
and I do not appear to be ageing much if at all. The powers that
you have given us might fall into the wrong hands. Is there any
way that we can make these powers subject to your programming?"
Undepoldus said. "I had not thought about that George. It
is a good idea. I know that I cannot stop the drive that makes
you want to share pleasure with others. I know that it only works
strongly when the pleasure is mutual. I think that it may be possible
to extend its effects in the way you say. Start sharing with Kerstin
now. We can discuss the revised range of your powers afterwards."
George and Kerstin knew that they could switch on pleasure for
each other as easily as directing a vidcom yet they both felt
an increased feeling of love and mutual trust every time they
shared. This time she tried a new variation. She made one of her
breasts into a face with a mouth, lips and tongue to kiss George.
Their well-practised expertise soon made both of them oblivious
to all external events. Undepoldus almost succumbed to the sublime
pleasure he experienced when he made contact with Kerstin and
George. Marita made him concentrate on the job in hand with at
least some of his brains.
It was the longest period that George and Kerstin had linked with
Undepoldus together.
Afterwards Undepoldus said. "I have tried to amalgamate the thoughts of the four of us together in one of my spare thinking units. After a very long debate with myself I have decided that you two should have the same talents as myself as far as possible. I cannot foresee what help you might need in the future when I will not be here to help you. I have given you talents that will not become apparent until the need arises. It was a long time before I realised what talents I had. I found out that I had many of them by accident or by an overpowering need to have a particular talent at a particular time.
My makers designed me well in many ways. I think that they
could have made me a bit smaller and less heavy. Then I think
that I was made to suit a different environment from here that
might require a large size and great physical strength. I am still
a mystery to myself but I will shortly have the means to investigate
the mystery. I will have to spend more and more time checking
and testing the launch vehicle before I leave. I suggest that
you go to visit Mr. Robinson on Friday to test your talents."
Kerstin said. "That is a good day. The evening of the 30th
of April is called Walpurgis Night in Sweden and Germany. It is
traditionally a night for witches and weird happenings. In Sweden
it is a time when some Swedes begin to celebrate the coming of
warmer weather and the first of May holiday. If the weather is
fine and warm, a lot of young people share comfort outside in
the open air for the first time in the year."
George said. "In Britain the first Monday in May is a holiday.
It offers a three day break from work with Saturday and Sunday.
I would think that a lot of Derek's staff will make use of the
three days in their own way."
Kerstin said. "That sounds wonderful to me George. How do
like the idea of spending the weekend there?"
"Do you really need to ask me Kerstin? We shared with a lot
of nice people then and it is the perfect excuse to spend three
days with people that we do not see very often."
