Cool:Plex Obsydian

What's in a name?

I can remember those halcyon days when the development tool for the discerning developer had a name that wasn't, um, how can I say this, "cool". For my own part, I much prefer the original name, and Sterling, such as they are can go and find a decent set of marketing consultants. Cool:Plex, tssh.

So what's this page all about, then?. Well it was originally conceived as a resource for Obsydian developers (that's how old the idea is). The concept was to post snippets of code and/or free-ware classes and patterns. The problem was the eternal time crisis - always busy doing something else. So why now?, No reason, just more motivated, especially after reading some of the down beat comments on the new synposium: The Edge

Meta Code

Unfortunately, due to the fact that I no longer work with the tool, I have only been able to produce one chunk of resources. The good news is that the information tries to demystify the magic of Meta Code. So, for a beginners guide to Meta Code, Click here.

Further Work

Ideally I would have liked to have gone on to develop some free-ware patterns, but unfortunately I've lost my Plex license, and since my company has now ditched the product, I have no chance of re-gaining it. That is of course unless some generous sod a Computer Associates sees fit to do their bit for the Plex development community. Initial plans were for:

  • Patterns to simplify reporting from Crystal Reports
  • Patterns to help with model reporting

Anyway, that's your lot. Hope you found the Meta Code stuff of some use. If you did, then drop me a line to let me know; it'll spur me on to bigger things I'm sure...
