THRILLS

THRILLS stands for "The Houghton Regis Improvement Linked Leagues".  It is a series of galas, which gives every swimmer in the Club the chance to swim and record / improve their times.

 All swimmers, from all age groups, will swim the same events. As is normal in swimming, ages will be as at 31st December in the year of competition.  For example, a swimmer whose 9th birthday is on 5th May is counted as a 9 year old from 1st January that year because that is how old they will be on 31st December.

Swimmers will be entered in heats based on their current Personal Best (PB) time or if they have not swum the event before they are entered with No Recorded Time (NRT). Points for place will be awarded within each age group, i.e. 9 Years & under, 10 & 11 Years, 12 & 13 Years, 14 & 15 Years  and 16 Years & over.

 Points are awarded to the first six swimmers in each age group as follows:

 1st  =  6 pts.       2nd  =  5 pts.      3rd  =  4 pts.      4th  =  3 pts.      5th  =  2 pts.      6th  =  1 pt.

 In addition, bonus points will be awarded each time a swimmer achieves a PB:

 Ø      For 3 seconds or more 3 pts.

Ø      For 1 second to 3 seconds 2 pts.

Ø      For up to 1 second 1 pt.

After each gala the points earned and swimmers' current positions will be displayed on the Club’s notice board at Houghton Regis Leisure Centre.  Trophies are awarded to each overall age group winner, second and third placed swimmers.
