Galas
HRSC competes in several galas each year, at various different levels from Novice, ‘C’ grade, Junior League and Chiltern League up to Home Counties and Speedo League.

When a gala is approaching, a Team Sheet will be pinned up on the club notice board at Houghton Regis. Please make sure that you check the notice board regularly for this, or indeed for any other important information. If your name is listed on a Team Sheet, please make sure that you tick you name as soon as possible to indicate that you are able to go to the gala.
If you are unable to go to the gala, please indicate this on the Team Sheet as well. If names are left unmarked, the Team Manager does not know which swimmers are available for the gala; finding any necessary replacements then becomes extremely difficult. Consequently, the chances of the whole team’s success are jeopardised - so please mark your name off as soon as you can!
The Team Sheet will have details of the date, time and location of the gala. Make a note of these, so that you can ensure that you on poolside at the right place and time! If you need a map showing how to get to the gala location, just ask a club official who will do their utmost to help.
THRILLS
THRILLS is the shortened version of “The Houghton Regis Improvement Linked Leagues”. The aim of THRILLS. is to encourage and reward improvement of all swimmers. In order to achieve this, swimmers who participate in THRILLS are awarded points for improving upon their own current personal best time (PB), as well as being awarded points according to their finishing place in each race.
There are five THRILLS galas each year; any swimmer may join in the THRILLS series at any time. Just ask any club official for an application form.

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS
The annual club championships are held towards the end of each year, usually in October/November. Unlike THRILLS, the championships are decided purely on place within each event. An overall club champion within each age group, for boys and girls, is decided by the highest number of points within that age group accumulated throughout all the championship events. Watch for details of the club championships on the notice board.
