Raw Uncooked food
There are quite a few people who think it is safe to give the Westie raw
uncooked food, nobody will argue that the odd carrot or other uncooked vegetable
or cereal is going to hurt. However when it comes to giving uncooked meat this
is a different matter.
In an ideal world, fresh meat straight from the slaughter house would arguably
be just fine, but even that meat is questionable. Since the majority of us do
not buy meat direct and rely on the local butcher or supermarket it is important
to ask ourselves if this meat is safe to be given uncooked.
How old is the meat you just bought, a day or so ?, it is astonishing that
meat can be weeks old and still be regarded as fresh meat. Notice when you buy
the product the date it must be eaten by, giving additional risks if fed
uncooked. If you freeze the meat you add even more risk of contamination when it
is defrosted incorrectly.
