Young Westie pup's should only wear a soft collar for short periods each day. Always remove the collar when the puppy is unsupervised. A young pup could easily trap its neck and choke. The Westie's neck will grow quickly, care should be taken that the collar is not too tight. Slip collars or choke chains should never be used on a Westie, they can do serious damage to the dogs neck.
