PERSON PROFILE

We invite applications from priests for the post based in St Paul’s and S Nicholas’, who have:

energy, flair, and imagination
a creative approach to mission and ministry
evidence of previous effective work developing fresh expressions of church
(for the post with under-25s) a proven track record in youth ministry
enthusiasm for meeting the challenges of a changing church and society
excellent team building skills
an inclusive spirituality
high levels of motivation and general competence in congregational support and development including preaching and worship

The position is open to men and women. Housing is provided and enhanced CRB disclosure required.

The workload will be 50% nurturing the current congregation of S Nicholas, Emmbrook, supporting the church community in outreach to the Emmbrook community:

growing our congregation

sharpening our sense of mission

enlivening our worship in the Catholic tradition

developing our understanding of the Christian faith

enabling a collaborative style of ministry

widening ownership of ministry

engaging with the wider community

sharing the faith with children and young people, particularly in ministry to our local schools.

As a full member of the Parish Team she/he will share in the life of the wider parish, playing an agreed role in taking the Occasional Offices, presiding at the Daily Office, celebrating Daily Mass, and sharing in Sunday duties across the Team.

The exciting other 50% of the post will be determined by the gifts and skills of the you bring as our new Community Priest.  Along with your colleague at All Saints you will be commissioned to go out into the wider town, working across our parish boundaries to reach those groups within our community which as yet have no real connection with the life of the Church, to share your love of Christ and his gospel with them, and create ‘fresh expressions of church’ in our town.

Your new ministry will involve working closely with both incumbents and your colleague Community minister, and this group will meet on a regular basis to provide support, advice and encouragement.  Wider support from within the Episcopal Area and Diocese will also be available to you.
