The 2003 AGM takes place on Monday 12th May and this is an excellent time for members to find out hot the club has been doing financially as well as hear the Committee's views on future developments. It is also a very good time for members to air their views and to make suggestions for improvements to the Club: we would like to see and hear from you. |

AIR CONDITIONING & SMOKE FILTRATION The Electronic Air Climate Control units and powerful Smoke Filters have now been in place within the Binfield Club since Autumn 2002. We can all now look forward to enjoying the Club during those long hot summer days even when we have friends around us who continue to indulge in smoking. |

The Club now operates easing a Stewardship Franchise. This has introduced both significant financial and management responsibility improvements. |

The Committee planned to fully refurbish the Function Room during 2002 but events and problems overtook us forcing other concerns such as flat roof leaks and internal Climate Control to be given precedence. Quotes have been requested for the Function Room work but these have ranged from £10K for minor work up to £30K for a more substantial refurbishment. The Committee has a lot to consider and is still to decide upon which of the different plans offers the most suitable solution in terms of best value for money and a proper long-term solution. |

NEW MAIN FLAT ROOF A WINNER! NOW FOR THE OTHERS!! The main flat roof covers a substantial area which is not readily viewable from outside the Club and late in 2002 the Committee decided to replace this with a new 'Polyroof" system which cost around £10K and has been a real success in preventing the water problems of prior winters. This enables us to look forward with encouragement to eliminating the remaining flat roof problems such as over the snooker room and the bottle shed which have suffered from leaks in stormy weather and resisted several previous repairs. With the proven reliable flat roof system available a "Terrace Roof Garden" are over the snooker room is now being considered to take advantage of a pleasant area which will allow members to enjoy the sun outside whilst still technically inside the Club! |

Club Holiday 2003 - Southern Spain Mid April saw a large party of Club regulars depart for the joys of sunny Spain at a very reasonable cost. It was Portugal in 2001 which all 27 members enjoyed and all came back with good sun tans and we hope that they will have had another great time on this 2003 trip. If you are interested in a trip during 2004, please let the Club know and you will be advised of the details of the next holiday. A list will go up later in 2003 for those interested members to leave their details. We have said it before and we really do mean it. The Club needs volunteers to keep our Club successful. Volunteers who can help out with entertainment, various events, and raffles are much appreciated. Can you spare some time? Please contact either John Owen, Elaine Bowes or a Committee Member. Help with the Sunday Morning Count is a big help to the Club and isn't all boring counting, you get a cup of tea (if you are luck) and a bit of banter with the other members: especially if the count double-checker finds an error! Not many Clubs can boast of growth 4 years in a row! Our Club continues to receive on average 20 new membership applications each month and we want this to continue. Of course, there are several reasons for this, as any member knows; our facilities are great, we offer more than most Public Houses at much cheaper prices and we have nice members. So if you are not yet a member why not come and see for yourself? Some Achievements During 2002/3
Social Activities The Binfield Club encourages members to use the facilities for many events and interesting activities and we would like to see more of these; if you are interested or have any ideas contact Elaine Bowes of EB Promotions at the club with your ideas or requirements. We welcome in our Club other Associations and see regular Skittles evenings by members of the Women's Institute as well as Whist Drives by the Binfield Royal British Legion. We offer facilities for Musical Bands to practice, Radio Hams to meet and a range of other specialist activities which members are interested in. We want to encourage seminars, talks, discussions and a wide range of participatory activities for the benefit of our members so we really would like to hear from you about your interests and how the Club can help you achieve great participation. FOOTBALL The Club team is doing well in Division 4 despite at times not being at full strength. When a full strong squad is played the results are impressive. DARTS There are several teams. Men and Women play on different events: Mondays and Tuesday. CRIB There are two good teams playing on Mondays in the winter league. POOL The Pool team plays in the Pool League on a Thursday evening.
