Meats of the world
| Human | Humans are common and wide spread and can be found in most cities their flesh tastes like pork or the common boar and there are several differnt variaties depending on the city where it was found for example Humans from around the Sigil area seem to have rather weak flesh, while those from Rune recently seem to have taken on a rather acidic taste (Perhaps its somthing in the water). |
| Ogre | Ogres take alot of work when it comes to cooking, due to their huge strength their flesh is normally full of muscle and gristle and take a long time to cook, they are best prepaired far in advance (about two days) but cooking times can be reduced by serveral hours work with a hammer or dropping them from a great height several times, eg a mountain or tall castle if one is available to you. (A word of caution about eating Ogre meat, you could find yourself with a "im better than everyone else attitude", so be carefull not to loose your friends) |
| Dracons | Dracons due to their fire resistant nature do not make good meat to cook with, you could roast these for a couple of days and still have very rare meat, so unless you like your meat rare I would avoid this type for cooking. |
| Elf | Cooking Elves is wrong, we at the Rookery in no way support or condone cooking or eating elves in any way shape or form, its WRONG and EVIL. |
| Fey | If your looking for somthing exotic or differnt to liven up
a party perhaps you should get a Fey in, because these little blood
suckers spend most of their time drinking the blood of anything and
everything you can never tell what they will taste like from one bite to
the next.
(Cooks tip, try pegging out a recently deceased fey in the sun for an hour or two, you will end up with a nice medium to rare corpse that can be carved up at your own leisure) |
| Minotaurs | Minotaurs are another tough meat to work with due to their
tough hides but with a little preperation they can make a fine meal for
almost any occasion.
(Cooks tip, if cooking Minotaur by any naked flame, BBQ, firepit etc reduce cooking times by half due to their weakness against fire Minotaurs are prone to burn quickly if left unatended) |
| Half-Elf | The management are currently undecided about cooking Half Elves as they are part Elf (See Elves above) but if you do wish to eat Half-Elf cook as you would a Human, the Rookery currently does not offer Half-Elf on its menu as we cannot work out a way to determin what part is Elf and what part is not. |
| Gnomes | Due to their small and wiry forms Gnomes can be cooked in a
variaty of ways and make very good center pieces when stuffed and roasted
(An apple in the mouth sets these pieces off nicely)
(Cooks tip, Boared with your normal Gnome diet? try finding a Gnome fresh out of Lasler and dump it in a pot of boiling water (dont forget to use a tight fitting lid) after about 5 mins the gnome should stop trying to escape and about an hour later it should add some stock and vegtables and then simmer for a further hour and you will have a nice camp stew) |
| Drow |
Edited by the E.L.F (Elven Liberation Front) Drows should never be eaten, when found they should be killed, burnt and then have their ashes burnt before taking them to the Merdraco so they can be scattered around the world. |
| Dwarf | Because of their nature and way of life the best method for
cooking Dwarves is the good old camp fire, just chuck them on top of some
nice hot embers armor and all and turn them occasionally, after about 3
hours you should have some strong dwarf meat that once removed of the
armor should just fall off the bone and it has a strong earth flavour.
(Cooks tip, be carefull when removing armor off of a cooked Dwarf it will be VERY hot, children and idiots should be surpervised at all times) |
| Halflings | Haflings are the hairiest creature you should be unlucky
enough to find in your kitchen, but they do have a rich nutty flesh that
tastes alot like chicken and can be cooked in a variaty of ways to enhance
their flavour.
(Cooks tip, Bandits in Arcane this month are having a two for the price of one on their petrol bombs, a great way of reducing Halfling hair, but make sure you stand down wind when you attempt this) |
| Sidhe | Sidhe are lean in life and lean in meals too, you wont find
much fat on any cuts of Sidhe so this is great for any adventurer who
finds themselves struggling to get into their armor every day, make sure
when choosing cuts of Sidhe that it is fresh as it tends to spoil quickly
or you could always visit the Faerie plain and gather your own, it has its
own unique taste that is hard to put into words, but its somthing you
either love or hate from the first mouthfull.
(Cooks tip, The Rookery are currently offering a two for one price on our own Sidbangers, These sausages made from our own secret recipie are a subtle blend of tender Sidhe, herbs and seasonings and ONLY available at the Rookery) |
