"Sospiro" is Italian for a sigh of contentment. The great composer-pianist Franz List wrote a beautiful concert study for the piano which he called "Un Sospiro". Our piano centre was founded at the beginning of 1998 and we named the centre after that piece of music.
The centre is run by our principal teacher, Lora Dimitrova, and calls on additional assistant teachers.
Some of Sospiro's features include:
Quality pianos
Our main teaching room has a grand piano and is large enough to
accommodate chamber music groups
and to host concerts with an audience of just
over 50
Rooms with two pianos for duets and concerto work (where the second piano plays the part of the orchestra)
Students can arrange to use the centre for rehearsals and small concerts
A small piano-focused library of books, music and recordings
Rooms and gardens where students, siblings and parents can wait (with the Sospiro kitten for company!)
Tuition available in solo piano, duets, chamber music, accompaniment, theory, aural, performance, jazz, improvisation and general musicianship
All abilities and ages catered for, from children and retired adults just beginning the piano to professional musicians
We also have studios in two other locations, both within the London Borough of Bromley: one at Bromley Youth Music Trust's music centre in Southborough Lane, and one at Wickham Common Primary School in West Wickham.
