Pouffe, just like Fairy, has acquired a second derogatory meaning which would disqualify it from modern alphabet charts. Easy to illustrate too. Up it goes.
Arthur Ransome's 'Swallows and Amazons' series of childrens' stories had as one of its main characters a girl called Titty. For a 1963 TV adaptation she was renamed Kitty. What now shall we call cylindrical patchwork leather bum rests with a tassel?
