By day she produces laughs on 'Frasier'. By night, this Texas transplant lets herself go to the dogs.
Age: 33. Hometown:Dallas, where her mother, a model and actress, and her stepfather, a tv actor, raised four kids. How she got started: studying drama at the Dallas Children's Theater. First job: acting in a local commercial. "My family did a back-to-school where we went dancing into a mall wearing barrels," Gilpin says. "The idea was that we didn't have anything to wear before we went shopping - and then we came out dressed in actual clothes. Rosie [O'Donnell] got hold of that one when I appeared on her show. It floored me to see it after many years." Current residence: a 1922 Mediteranean-style house in the hills of L.A. Future film role: "I have a small part in a movie called Spring Forward, with Liev Schreiber and Ned Beatty. It's a beautiful script about an older man and a younger man who form this father-son relationship. My character is someone they just kind of come across." Romantic status: Involved but not talking. What she does when she's not working: "I have a big ol' garden I try to work in once a week. And I have three dogs that I play with a lot: a golden-colored mutt, a cocker spaniel and a terrier mix." How she feels about 'Frasier': "It's amazing to be on the show. Playing Roz is a dream job, and I'm ecstatic to be part of such a talented team." |
