30m Band Utilization . . . . . . . . Updated 14 January 2012

THE 30M BAND UTILIZATION CHART

The "30m Band Utilization Chart" is exactly that. It is not a "bandplan", nor even an "unofficial bandplan". Rather, it is an attempt to graphically portray the many modes that are actually in use on 30m today. There is a clear distinction between dial frequencies and emitted frequencies, helping you to accurately set the correct frequency and to identify signals as they appear on the waterfall.

Note, however, that the three IARU Region Bandplans specify the following bandwidth limits in the 30m band:

The chart is a living document. If you see any errors or omissions, or want to suggest improvements, please email me at g3nrw-radio@ntlworld.com

KEY TO COLOR CODING

Yellow boxes indicate ranges of emitted frequencies, with no dial frequencies. Activity takes place anywhere within these boxes.

Gray boxes, with associated dial frequencies, are (more-or-less) "fixed" frequencies of operation, and the dial frequency is what you use with the software packages generally available. In the case of AX.25 packet, the dial frequency assumes 1600/1800Hz (KAM) tones.

Dark green boxes indicate analog modes.

Blue box indicates commercial station.
