Camping
weekends and cycle tours for 2002.
Our annual Easter tour has been put back two weeks to 12th-15th April because of the twins Alan and Keith, our secretary, 60th birthday ride. I tried to get them to alter it but they found it a bit difficult after 60 years. Anyway we are off to Wallingford on the side of the Thames in South Oxfordshire. As well as being a very attractive place the area offers a host of quiet country roads and a comprehensive cycle network, the White Horse, Didcot railway museum, wild life parks and historic sites. I have already booked 5 adjacent camping pitches at Bridge Villa Camping and Caravan Park Crowmarsh Gifford at £7 per night plus £2 for electric for Pearl and myself, Howard and Betty, Alan and Gail, Mary and Alex, and Stuart, Teresa and Helen. Anyone else who would like to enjoy this long weekend with us camping please book by ringing 01491 836860. We are all staying 3 nights Friday to Sunday night.
Those without camping equipment are not left out, as there is a variety of accommodation available. At budget prices there are two inns The Town Arms 100yards from camp site 01491 824406 offers bed only for £15 per night and The Dolphin 1/4mile from camp site 01491 837377 offers bed & breakfast for £22 per night. Private B & B’s are Mrs Broster ¼mile from camp site 01491 836654 has 2 single rooms at £25 per night, Mrs Barnard 1/2mile from camp site 01491 201917 has a single for £20 and a double for £35 per night, and Mrs Smith 3/4mile from camp site 01491 825036 has 2 singles for £30 and a double and a twin for £50 each per night. Then there is the more expensive George Hotel 1/4mile from campsite 01491 836665 offering singles at £48 and twins at £78 per night. There is no doubt others too that I have not sussed out. Please book your own accommodation direct.

No need to book as there is plenty of room.
May 24th – 26th Harrogate camping weekend.

The site we use is north west of Harrogate, Hollins Hall farm, Lund lane Killinghall g.r.SE270580. The site is small so we do need to book. Please contact me ASAP.
June 9th – 23rd Cycle tour of Bulgaria or Croatia.
The dates and the place of this tour have not been finalised so this is a best guess at where and when. The tour will involve flying and will be a moving on tour of approx. 50 miles/day stopping in cheap hotels or guest houses with an all in cost of about £500. For the latest information and bookings please phone Hugh Jones in the evening on 01789731662.
During the same dates there is a tour of the Cornish Rivera though I am not sure how much cycling is involved. All I know is they are staying or camping near St Austell. If you are interested please contact Pearl for accommodation on 01530 261157 and for camping contact Betty on 01509 502002 for further details.
Please note that both these tours cover national bike week activities so you have to make a choice!!!
