WING CHUN DUMMY
This piece of training equipment is traditional to Wing Chun Kung Fu. The full support system keeps the Mook Yan Jong in place and very secure to a wall. As the student progresses through the system they understand more sophisticated techniques from the use of the first three hand forms. Using the wooden man gives the student a chance to develop their close quarter power strikes and to understand how to move around an opponent whilst applying these strikes. Traditionally you only get to learn the wooden man techniques when you understood the Biu Gee, the third hand form and some would say the highest hand form as it is the last to learn. Some Wing Chun schools choose to leave Bui Gee to last and train techniques of the wooden man firstly. Either way it seems that training on the the Mook Yan Jong comes at a high point in Wing Chun syllabus around the world. However, some schools feel it is just a necessary piece of equipment as it is essential a student of wing chun practice with another. When there is no one else to train with, practice can continue with the Jong. This training partner never sleeps.
