The aim of physiotherapy is to assist in the recovery of function and the reduction of pain due to injury or other causes. It is primarily a non-invasive form of physical treatment and uses a wide range of techniques. These include manual therapy, exercise, electrotherapy, and acupuncture. Manual therapy can involve the mobilisation and manipulation of joints, muscles and nerves, and other soft tissue techniques. We can provide education in posture, back care, gait analysis etc. if required. Rehabilitation includes guidance about appropriate activity and exercise at all stages of the recovery period.

Physiotherapists are fully independent health practitioners and patients do not need to be referred by a doctor. The physiotherapist carries out a detailed assessment of each patient in order to identify the specific problems and to plan the best method of treatment. This is then explained to the patient and agreed with them before treatment commences.
