For a brief period of time, the GP Wolber was considered as a kind of World Championship: the entry was limited to the top three finishers of the big French, Italian, Belgian and Swiss classics, and it took place as the concluding event of the season. From 1927 there was a Professional Road Race Championship and the race began to lose status. Georges Ronsse and - peripherally - Antonin Magne were the only riders to have won both races.
