Carriage handle bearing modification.

The following pictures describe a modification to add ball races to the carriage handle to make it smoother to operate.

The apron is clamped to the mill ready for boring.

Speaks for itself, really.

The hand gear has had its end drilled 1/8". A piece of stainless steel and a ball race added.

A chip guard has been added to prevent chips from clogging the gears. Note that the chip guard also supports the ball race on the hand gear inner.

Assembled.
