 Planned Trips

E-mail cavingclub@hotmail.com in advance if you want to go on a trip, places are limited and on spec appearances can be disappointed.

WEDS trips leave 1:30pm and Weekends 10:30am unless otherwise noted.

Those marked SRT are only for those who have completed our SRT theory lessons.

Easy indicates an easy cave, few strenuous sections, little technical work - good for first timers.

Mod is a moderate cave. Some hard work and exertion but nothing too severe.

Diff indicates a difficult cave, there may be some difficulties en-route and/or technical rope/ladder work, only come if you've been a caving a few times before and don't mind a slog.

Hard Core - Killer caves with more death per square km than  Vietnam in the Summer of '71. Sumps, difficult crawls, wet pitches and climbs, Radon gas, Weil's disease and cave trolls are just some of the obstacles on route. Not to be taken lightly, only the toughest need apply.

January 2003

25/01/03 - Ogof Ryhdd Sich. (Mod/Diff). Very cold wet duck at the entrance, with tight crawls to start with - opens up into some fine passageway. Bring the neoprene and thermals! If we chicken out then there's always Ogof-Y-ci upstream which is a bit friendlier

29/01/02 - Lesser Garth (Easy-Some Mod crawls). Cardiff's very own cave, warm and dry with an easy pitch down to the lower chambers which we will Ladder. This is followed by a series of crawls and squeezes into the well decorated knob passage and it's hibernating bats.

01/02/03 - Feel free to organise a cave.

08/02/03 - Mendip Weekend (mod/diff)

15/02/02 - Ogof Pas-fael-wen (Mod) Cave of the three white horses. Put back from November. A nice through trip with a ladder pitch and the infamous purgatory canal (bring your neoprene underwear). Tight squeeze through the blast site, but the hardest part is usually finding the car after you've got out!.

November 2002

20/11/02 - Ogof Pas-fael-wen (Mod)  The return of our Weds caving trips. This cave features two seperate entrances so we will be in one out the other. Ladder climbing and the icy canal. Bring your woolies!

23/11/02 - Pant Mawr Pot (SRT)  A big hole in the middle of a moor. A long walk out but worth it - nice entrance via a 15m abseil.

27/11/02 - SRT Training This Weds is reserved for anyone who needs to brush up on SRT before the AGM.

29/11/02 - YORKSHIRE AGM. Our annual AGM and Crimbo party. Join us for a weekend of fun and frivolity in the Northern most reaches of England. Lots of SRT caving guarantees an adrenaline pumping end to the year! We will be leaving Friday night and getting back late Sunday evening. Usual cost is around £15 all in. More details soon.

October 2002

13/10/02 FRESHER SRT TRAINING- Come along and learn the black art of SRT. We will have you going up and down that rope in no time. Essential if you want to come along to the AGM in Dec.

17/10/02 - Manor Farm (Mod/Diff) - Please note the shift from Saturday to Sunday. This Mendips cave will be a first for Swallet. A double ladder pitch, and water. If cave is not accessable an alternative in mendip will be found.
