Le Cheminant Master Mariner stainless steel, 17 jewelled, manual wind chronograph.
Fitted with a Landeron movement calibre 349.
Watch has serial number 15879
This Le Cheminant Master Mariner manual wind chronograph, based on the 1960s Ollech & Wajs ASTRO-CHRON has just been returned from a service and repair. The movement is a 17 jewelled, manual wind, Landeron calibre 349, signed Ollech & Wajs. The watch has a sub-second dial at the 9 o'clock position, 30 minute timer at the 3 o'clock position and a 12 hour totaliser at the 6 o'clock position. Designed by Ollech & Wajs, originally as a GMT pilot-navigators watch used to record flight times or parts of a flight. The outer bi-directional bezel is divided into 12 hours of the day but the watch dial has none, so in theory, you never have to change your watch for two different time zones. The top pusher starts the second timer, the bottom pusher stops the timer. Pushing the top button again restarts the second timer without resetting. Two pushes on the lower pusher resets the second timer to zero. The silver white dial is in excellent condition with only minimal loss of any dial markers.
Stainless steel 17J Manual Chronograph
This is a photograph of the actual Landeron calibre 349, 17 jewelled, manual wind movement. As you can see the movement is signed Ollech & Wajs, hence the connection between this Le Cheminant chronograph and those produced by Ollech & Wajs in the middle to late 1960s.
