Ulric
Kennedy formed
The Catalysts
in 1985
but
the band, whose early demos sounded like the Sarah EP
that never was, failed to realise its potential, as Ulric's role as
bassist in The Golden Dawn took precedence soon afterwards.
He revived the band in the mid-90s, almost, but not quite, winning the
annual Electric Honey deal which shot Belle and Sebastian
to instant cult status.
As of 2006, The Catalysts are back once more, following up the original
EP, finally released by Félicité Singles Club in 2004,
with a second - Long Distance - which can currently be
heard in demo form on the band's MySpace page.
