Pool Rules for the League and all Competitons as at 06 November 2005

·         The Stanjay Sports Huntingdon Pool League is now to be played on a Tuesday Night. Rules used will be World Eight Ball Pool Federation rules. The rules can be obtained from the English Pool Association web site. The URL is http://www.epa.org.uk/wrules.php . Other documents of interest on the new rules are “Introduction to the World Rules” http://www.epa.org.uk/pool.swf ,  “Guidance to Referees” http://www.epa.org.uk/wrulguid.php , “Referees Calling Procedures” http://www.epa.org.uk/wrulcalp.php , “All about Snookers” http://www.epa.org.uk/snookers.php .

·         Player’s May normally only play for one team during the season for all league games and Team knockout’s. However if a player wishes to transfer to another team in the league then he may do so only if the second half of season has not started and he pays 5 pounds to The Hunts Pool League before he plays any games for the new team. Teams failing to comply with this rule shall lose the points gained in the matches using the illegal player. All Players in league must be registered with the STANJAY SPORTS HUNTINGDON POOL LEAGUE via Team Registration form or Match Result Cards. A Player is not registered for any team until he has played his first game for that team. If a Team drops out of the league before the completion of the 1st half of season then all points will be removed from teams they played. If in 2nd half then only the second half points will be removed from teams they played.

·         A Pool team should consist of a minimum of 5 players however 3 players are acceptable to win a match. A Match shall consist of 10 frames of singles. Each Match will be worth 3 point for a Win, 1 point for a Draw and 0 Points for a Loss. Any Player who is not present when he is due to play shall forfeit his frame unless otherwise agreed by both captains. A Team of 5 players is needed to play all 10 games however if both teams only have four players then they may each draw two players to play a third frame. If one team has 5 players and the other team 4 players then the 9th frame is awarded to the team with 5 players and the tenth frame is played for by drawing one of the 4 players to play a third frame. This rule is so a team with 5 players gets at least one of the two remaining frames for abiding by the rules of having 5 players in their team. No player may play more then once in the first five single games (1st Half). The same applies to the Last five single games (2nd Half). A player can take part in only two games in any Match except when a team has only four players.

·         A Team Knockout match cannot be a draw. In the event of a 5-5 score then both Team Captains may select one player to play the final deciding frame. The player to break the deciding frame shall be decided by the toss of a coin and the winner choosing who breaks off.

·         The Teams are to be picked by drawing out the players on the night. This means the five players for the singles are to be picked by putting the five required names in a glass or by any other suitable method satisfactory to both Team Captains. For the remaining 5 singles the same players may be used enabling them to play two games or new players maybe substituted. This means that no team will have a home advantage and any player can play anyone from the other team whereas not restricting them to playing the same person every season. The Home team is to position the drawn names on the card in the order that they want each game to be played in.

·         All Teams must be at Venue no later than 8.30pm so that the match can start at 08:30pm sharp. This is to enable the completion of the 10 games at a reasonable hour. Any team not at venue by 8.40pm will forfeit the match and will have 3 points deducted from their league score. The opposing team will be awarded a 6-0 win for the match that never got played. The opposing team is to be given 15 minutes practise time before the match commences (between 08:15pm & 08:30pm). No practise time is to be given to teams that are late therefore affecting the start time of the match. The 3 points deduction will be wavered if the offending team notifies the other team that they will not be turning up. Any team failing to show for two matches regardless of them notifying the opposing team will be thrown out of the league and will not be able to participate in the next season.

·         The Postponement of matches is permitted providing that both team captains agree and that in any event League Chairman and opposing team have been given 24 hours notice of any postponement of fixtures. No matches may be re-arranged if 24 hours are not given except in very extreme circumstances. Inclement weather and road traffic accidents are the only permitted exceptions to this rule. Postponed matched must be played pre the fixture date if possible or either before end of 1st Half or before last games in the second half depending on when match was cancelled. No re-arranged games are to take place after the last games of season has played except where the result as no bearing on the outcome of the League Champions/Runners-up. The team Captain who cancelled the game shall be responsible for re-arranging the game to be convenient with the other team captain. League Chairman is to be notified of any agreed dates for the re-arranged fixture. In the event of League Chairman not being informed of any agreed dates, then he will re-arrange the postponed fixture as a matter of course within the specified time frame. If the re-arranged fixture does not take place after the league has finished then both teams will be awarded 0 Points.

·         The winning team (Home team if Draw) is responsible for telephoning the result into the league secretary before Midnight on match days and submitting the result card and ensuring that the Results Secretary receives the result card by the end of each week.. Failure to comply with this rule will result in the loss of 1 bonus point for a league game. All results and league tables will be placed in the Hunts Post every week containing all result that have been received by Tuesday Night. The results and league tables will also be published on the Stanjay Sports Huntingdon Pool league web site. The URL is http://homepage.ntlworld.com/tuveyclan/sshpool.htm. I update the Division tables on it most Tuesday Night / Wednesday Morning for teams to see where they stand.

·         All Result cards will be entered into a Computer database to determine the Least Defeated Player award. Any Cards not received will be omitted from the database so therefore affect the outcome. Least defeated player will be determined on league games only. The least defeated player is the player who has won the most games in a season on the first game they have played on the night. If two players are tied then it is determined on the player who has won the most second games (i.e. Total games won in a season).

·         Alternatively the result can be emailed via the Internet to sonic.8ball@ntlworld.com All email will be read Tuesday Night after the Match or Wednesday Morning

·         The Games shall be refereed by alternate Teams, i.e. the Home Team will referee the first frame and the away team the second, and so on. The Match will have alternating breaks where the home team breaks the first game and so on.

·         Any 8-ball clearances made in Singles only must be put on back of result card and phoned in, as this will earn the Player a medal on Presentation Night. Confirmation of an 8-ball clearance must be made by opposing player / Team Captain by phoning in / signing card by player’s name. Only 1 medal will be awarded to the player regardless of how many 8-ball Clearances completed in the league. An 8-ball clearance is when all 7 object balls / + black ball are potted from the break with one visit to the table, or the next visit after the break by the opposing player.

·         Only 7 trophies will be presented to each Winning / runner up team on Presentation Night. This is Negotiable in Certain Circumstances but may require additional funds if more trophies are needed.

·         The referee’s decision is final however he may be challenged if he makes an obvious wrong decision (e.g. calling foul snooker instead of total snooker and vice versa or calling two visits instead of one). Any non-reconcilable decision can be resolved by re-rack if both players agree or else call me on my mobile and I will make the decision which may include saying “The referee has the final decision in this matter”.

·         Team Registration Forms submitted after the deadline date will incur a five pounds fine.

·         If two teams have the same points at the end of season then the winner will be decided on firstly who has won the most matches, secondly on the most draws, thirdly on the most legs won. Finally it will be decided on who won the most legs when they played each other. If that is equal as well then a play-off at a neutral venue is the only way to decide.

·         If a team wants to drop out for 1 season then they will have to come back in the bottom division,

·         If a team wants to move to a new venue at the start of a new season and more than half of the players comply then they may retain their league table position under the new venue’s name. This means that the Venue they left can submit a brand new team but they will start in the bottom division.

·         Any Complaints or grievances should be reported to the League Secretary as soon as possible. The committee will be used to resolve any serious issues that might evolve during the current season. The Committee will consist of Paul Tuvey and 4 other team representatives (two from each division selected at the last AGM).
