for 08/11/99
- Season Gripes
- Winning teams still not phoning in the results on a
Monday Night therefore results incomplete for faxing to THE
HUNTS POST & TOWN CRIER local papers. The
1 point penalty deduction for first offence as a warning
and then 2 points for any subsequent offence not severe
enough. Maybe we should take the Two points for a win off
or award 4-4 to both teams
- Motion carried was to keep it as
it is. However Points will be deducted this season.
- Result cards not being filled in Properly or not
receiving them that week. I would like players
names to be filled in with First Name (or Initial)
followed by Surname. This enables me to keep track of how
many Wins a player has had. If not filled in
properly then I have to guess who actually won the game
so leads to inaccurate results for some players. Most
problems occur when there are two players in the team
with same name.
- Motion carried was to give two
warning then deduct 1 point.
- Team Registration forms are being left till last possible
minute or even past the deadline date. This causes a lot
of rushing about and not being able to start the new
league on time. Maybe I should impose a fine to teams who
submit their forms late or omit them from the current
season.
- Motion carried was that any team
who has not paid their monies by the due date will be
charged an extra £5 to participate in the league
- Team cancelling games and not being able to fit them in
before end off-season. I propose that any game cancelled
must be played within a month or before the last game of
first / second half of season. Any game not played to
these rules will result in a 4-4 draw
- Motion Carried was that the
League Secretary must be made aware the following Monday
when the game is to be played. Any game not played before
the last game of the season will mean the team cancelling
having points deducted. The Committee Panel will get
involved if necessary to solve any unforeseen problems.
- Teams not turning up to last few games of season causing
in-balance to the Final Division tables. I propose that a
team should be fined for not turning up. £10 payable to
league and £5 for opposing team for Wasted food.
- Motion carried was that the
committee would get Involved to try and solve this
problem
- Bad Sportsmanship. Bad referee calls causing unnecessary
re-racks and Bad feeling within teams.
Players barracking. People complaining about slow
games. Teams turning up late and still expecting practise
games. All referees should call when a player has two
shots so he knows where he stands. Surely this is not two
much to ask.
- Motion carried was that the
opposing team would be given the table at 08:30pm and
given 15 minutes practise time. The Match to start before
9pm. Referees will say 1st
Visit, 2nd Visit when a player
has two shots so to prevent any confusion.
- Violence. A Violent team player will not be tolerated in
this league. What shall we do. Bar the player from the
League or Team. I Propose that the player should be
barred from the league for one season
- A committee panel will decide
what to do with a player who is Violent. He could be
banned for a season , couple of games or even thrown out
the league permanently
- Complaints: How do we deal with complaints. Do we
need a Committee. If a committee is needed then it should
be 1 person from each Venue (Not Pool Team) or just
select a couple of people who want to be elected.
- It was decided that any
complaints are reported to the League secretary. The
League secretary will call a committee meeting to decide
and vote on the complaint. The committee will consist of
four members (two from the Premier League and two from
the First Division) + the League Secretary. The two first
division members will vote on premier league problems and
visa versa. The League secretary having the deciding
votes in the event of a difference of opinion. People
letting me know if they would like to stand as a
committee member, preferably in writing would decide the
committee.
- New Proposals / Issues
for forthcoming Season
Q.1 Introduce the New Pool Rules that were brought in
January 1998 from Summer League 2000
Have a meeting in six
months time to see if teams want the rules to come in.
Q.2 Changing the Points Scoring. I have two possible
options
- Where you only get 2 Points for a Win and 0 for
Lose. The legs
- Count in the case of a draw
- No Two Points for a Win just legs only
Keep scoring as it is
Q.3 What do we do if two teams are equal at end of season
on the same amount of points. Do we arrange a play-off or
decide it on the two scores when they played each other.
If two teams are totally equal at
the end of season then the winner will be decided on whom won
the most legs when they played each other. If that is equal
as well then a play-off at a neutral venue is the only way to
decide.
Q.4 What do we do if there is a tie for the Least
Defeated Player Award. I propose that it should be
decided on a 1-frame sudden death knockout. As in the end
that is how a league game is played.
The Two players who are tied play
a best of three to decide who wins the prestige title of
LEAST DEFEATED PLAYER.
Q.5 In the Doubles Knockout any players who do not have a
Partner can play with players from other teams. Or
Alternatively players can play with who ever they
want. Do not need to restrict them to play with their own
team members.
A player may partner anyone he
wants in the Doubles K/O as long as he is a registered player
in the Winter League. He does not have to play for your team.
Q.6. What do we do if a team wants to drop out for 1
season and then come back in the Next season
If a team wants to drop out for 1
season then they will have to come back in the bottom
division,
Q.7 What do we do if a team in the top league disbands
from a pub and the Pub puts in a team of new
players.
- What if the same players transfer from 1 pub to
another pub?
- What if the pub changes name?
If a team leaves a Venue and goes
to another Venue then they must start in the bottom division.
This means that the Venue they left can submit a brand new
team and keep their place in the division they were in. Teams
if they wish do not have to be named after the Venue they
play for. This means you can move venue without losing your
table status.
- Way Forward
- It would be good if I could Fax /email everyone the new
Fixture lists and results rather then Posting or
Travelling. Does everyone have a Fax / Email Number I
could have for this purpose
- A Web page has been set-up by me for the Stanjay Sports

. I update the Division tables on it every Monday Night /
Tuesday Morning for teams to see where they stand. Any
Ideas on what you want on it then let me Know.
- At end of season Normally Two teams from Premier league
will go down and Two will come up from the First
Division. If more new teams come in then only the bottom
team from Premier league will go down and maybe more then
two will go up depending on circumstances.
The Captains seamed to agree that
if teams dropped out and more space became available in
Premier League then the teams would get filtered back up. 2
would definitely go up but none would go down if there were
slots available. I could call a committee if many partied
were not happy with my decision.
