On Thursday 11th September 2003, I visited the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford for a special open evening. The RSCH's in-house radio station is called "Radio Lion" and has a thriving team of volunteers. This sort of volunteer work really appeals to me; I obviously have an interest in radio and also worked in the hospital many years ago, both my children were born there and I have spent many an hour waiting in casualty with each of them with banged heads! So, volunteering to help on the team running Radio Lion would seem a good idea; if accepted, it would feel like doing a hobby in what I jokingly call my "second home"!

The open evening went well, I enjoyed it and they had a record number of people attending, around 40. I now have a nice collection of paperwork to read and some forms to fill. Watch this space to see how I get on.
