A DEDICATION TO THE LATE DAVE STREET

Dominic Busby replaced his regular programme items at 6.30pm on Friday 13th February (2004) with a tribute to Dave Street, playing some wonderful clips from past shows they did together when Dom presented the evening show.

Dave was a regular guest of the BBC Evening Show for several years and outstayed several hosts of the programme, Sue Dougan being the current presenter. Sue also paid tribute to Dave on Thursday (12th February), Thursdays being Dave's usual visiting day to the evening show.

John Miller has a great website called "John Miller and his Country Casuals" on which he broke the news of Dave's passing. John gave me permission to reprint his article here -

"I just received an email this morning (12th February 2004) telling me that Dave Street, the organiser of next month's Street Party Festival passed away on Tuesday, a suspected heart attack. Whether the festival will go ahead or not I have no idea, and it's not really important right now. I never met Dave but had a few real good chats to him on the phone and we were looking forward to getting together next month. I had a chance to meet him at the UK Country Awards but I never made it down as I had a show in Arran that weekend. I kind of wish I had now. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of Dave's family and friends."
