Some of My Favourite Links

This page undergoes constant updating with new links. You can reach all these sites by clicking on the title (in italics and underlined) or links in the description. Please e-mail me with your own interesting website or others you have come across and I will consider it for inclusion. I will take all suggestions seriously. I also need to know if links become broken or you have any other problems with them, e-mail me and let me know if this happens to you.

Robert Williams

Robert Williams has a brilliant website dedicated to all sorts of BBC stuff, everything from BBC logos, cult tv, history of local radio stations, how the BBC coped during power cuts to jingles and the best DJs and much much much more. Click here to see how BBC Southern Counties Radio came into being and here for his main page which takes you everywhere else including his own interesting list of links.

John Radford

John Radford's own personal website (in internet terms) is pure visual heaven! There aren't many jobs John hasn't done in his lifetime so far. In his own words "deep sea diver, Concorde pilot, international jewel-thief, orchestral conductor, racing driver, movie actor, soldier of fortune ... these are just some of the jobs I haven't done (although there is still time!)." You must see his website here. Unfortunately, John, it now may be too late to become a Concorde pilot due to the plane's sad demise!

The BBC

Here are three very important websites for every BBC SCR fan. There's BBCi, the main BBC website, an absolutely huge and terribly useful website. Then, of course, there's the newly revamped site for BBC Southern Counties Radio, if you haven't seen this yet - why not?! Finally in this group there is the "Where I Live" website which is one of a specially designed set of websites specialising in life in your area of the country. This site, which covers our part of southern England, can be found here.

Radio Rewind (The Unofficial Story of BBC Radio 1)

This is a great nostalgic look at the history of BBC Radio 1. It's a huge site with loads of great information. See a list of all the songs Tony Blackburn played on the first day of broadcasting.

Hospital Radio Stations

Hospital Radio is where a large number of well known radio and television presenters start their broadcasting careers. Click here for the Hospital Radio UK website, they promote everything to do with hospital radio stations. Click here for Radio Lion, the Royal Surrey County Hospital's radio station or here for EHR - Epsom Hospital's radio station.

Life Coach Trevor Cousins

Trevor Cousins provides BBC SCR listeners invaluable advice during regular visits on Dominic Busby's "Drivetime" show. I asked Trevor to provide me with some text to better describe his work and how to get in touch -

As their life coach, I support my clients in turning their dreams and ambitions for their life into practical goals and action plans. My clients are making their tomorrow, not hoping for the best. If you want to change or improve aspects of your personal life or career but never seem to get round to it on your own, a life coach can support you in building your confidence and motivation, so that you can make life work for you. One of my clients, Claire M from London, described her coaching experience with me: "Life coaching is all about taking action. The life coach sets realistic goals after discussion, so you both really know where you're coming from and what’s important to you. There's nothing that you don’t want to do. It's challenging but not scary. I feel a lot happier and a lot more in control as a result: It's taken me to where I want to be." Visit his website at www.trevorcousins.com.

Linda Bennett

Linda Bennett is a friend of mine and was a huge of BBC SCR before she moved to Cornwall and listened 24 hours a day. BBC SCR is not just great listening - it also helps create new friendships! Please visit her own interesting website here.

St. Mary of Charity’s Church Choir

This website is maintained by a friend of mine, Stephen Sharpe. Whether you have an interest in joining the choir, or you wish to know more about them, there is every thing you need to know on this site. There is also a monthly updated repertoire list.

"The DIBB" and "The Dis"

Here are a couple of brilliant websites I have come across over the last couple of months. At some stage, we plan to go to Florida and there is no better place to start than these two websites. Take a look at these websites before you spend any money on hotels, transport, flights, tickets or even restaurants!

The Oil Industry

Here's another one of my own websites, nothing to do with radio this time. It's actually going to expand eventually (hopefully) into more of a family website (my family that is!). Do you know anything about or interested in the oil industry and, in particular, Royal Dutch Shell? Have a look here. It's a very new website and still needs a lot of work on it. If you have any views on the subject, let me know.

World Travel

If you are interested in travel or even moving to a different part of the world try visiting "World City Pages" here. You can search for all sorts of different types of websites based in all sorts of different places around the world.

British and living abroad? Homesick?

Are you living abroad and missing all that's British? Click on the banner to view the "All That's Britain" website. A very extensive website with everything and anything British. I would say this site is "a must" even if you live in Britain! Subjects covered on this website include Government departments, entertainment, towns and cities, shopping, culture and society, travel, sports and recreation, news and media, health, education and many more.

"Feebleminds" (website graphics resources)

This is a brilliant website and I have used some of their stuff. If you are building or updating your own website, have a look here for all sorts of great freebies. Their homepage advertises the following resources - free animated gifs, clipart, signatures, backgrounds, buttons, dividers, lines, bars, fantasy pictures, tree pictures, kids gifs, banners, headings and background sets.

AAA Backgrounds

If you are constructing your own website and would like some interesting backgrounds, there are loads here. Click on the heading above or copy this website address - www.aaa-backgrounds.com/index.shtml.

The Final Word

As this website is still quite new, I very much need your help to make this page much bigger. Please e-mail me now with your suggestions. I cannot guarantee inclusion of your suggested site as it will depend on various things including suitability, but I will take every suggestion seriously.
