GEORGE MALCOLM GILL
The 27th Chief Cashier, Malcolm Gill was born on 23 May 1934. After National Service in the RAP, he joined the Bank in 1957. After periods with the
IMF and the Treasury, he became head of the Foreign Exchange Division in 1982 and Chief Cashier on 1 March 1988. He retired on 24 November 1991.

GRAHAM EDWARD ALFRED KENTFIELD
The 28th Chief Cashier, Graham Kentfield was born on 3 September 1940. He joined the Bank in 1963 and worked in the Economics Division.
In 1985 he became Deputy Chief Cashier and was appointed Chief Cashier on 25 November 1991. After seven years in the job, he retired on 17th
September 1998.

MERLYN LOWTHER
The 29th Chief Cashier, Merlyn Lowther was born in 1954. She joined the Bank at the age of 21 having obtained a first in mathematics from Manchester University. She became
Deputy Chief Cashier in 1991 and Personnel Director in 1996. She was appointed Chief Cashier on 17th September 1998, becoming the first woman to hold the post, which she took up on 5th January 1999.
The first notes to bear Merlyn Lowther's signature appeared on 5th January 1999, her first day. These are otherwise identical with the Kentfield issues.
