Peppiatt 10/- NOTE

The 20th Chief Cashier, Kenneth Oswald Peppiatt was born in 1893. He was elected to the staff of the Bank on 9 November 1911. During the First World War he served with the 7th Bn London Regiment. He rose to the rank of Major, was wounded twice, and was awarded the MC and bar. He became Chief Cashier on 18 April 1934. He held the post for 15 years, until 28 February 1949. He was knighted in 1941. He retired in 1957 and died, aged 90, on 12 May 1983.
