During the war, Nazi Germany used prisoners in Sachenhausen concentration camp to produce very high quality forgeries of Bank of England notes. The very best forgeries were given to high ranking SS officers, the next best to Nazi spies and the rest were intended to flood the market and ‘break’ the British economy.
