No 45 Strand-on-the-Green, PICTON HOUSE. .Mary Buffar (daughter of John Trimmer) acquired No 45, and half of No 49 in about 1790. Mary was the aunt of James Trimmer the younger, whose wife was the famous Sarah. Ann Trimmer inherited the property in 1819 and bequeathed it to her nephew, Joshua Kirby Trimmer, in 1825.
The SAUNDERS family. John Saunders, maltster of Strand on the Green, took on No 45 after Joshua Kirby Trimmer's death. Charles Saunders, a coal merchant, and William Jupp, his son-in- law, succeeded John as owners, followed by Charles' son, J H Saunders, in 1886; he also acquired No 44 in 1889.

English geologist, was born at North Cray in Kent, on the 11th of July 1795. He was son of Joshua Kirby Trimmer of Brentford, and grandson of Mrs Sarah Trimmer (1741-1810), authoress of the Story of the Robins (1786). At the age of nineteen he was sent to North Wales to manage a copper-mine for his father; subsequently he was placed in charge of a farm in Middlesex, where lie acquired a knowledge of and an interest in soils; in 1825 he became manager (for his father) of slate quarries near Bangor and Carnarvon, and in this district he remained for many years. He discovered the marine shells in the drift of Moel Tryfaen. During the years 1850-1854 he was engaged on the Geological Survey, and surveyed parts of the New Forest in Hampshire. He died in London on the 16th of September 857.

He published memoirs on the Origin of the Soils which cover the Chalk of Kent; On the Geology of Norfolk, as Illustrating the Laws of the Distribution of Soils (1847); and Proposals for a Geological Survey, specially directed to Agricultural Objects (1850); in this respect he was a pioneer in agricultural geology. He was author also of a useful work Practical Geology and Mineralogy (1841). Obituary by J. E. Portlock, in Quart. Journ. Geol. Soc. (1858).

The 341 ton Atwick was under the command of Captain Hugh McKay when she left London with passengers and general cargo bound for Western Australia. She carried two guns and had a crew of 20 men. She arrived in the Swan River Colony on October 19, 1829. The Swan River Harbour Master's report said she carried 17 cabin passengers and another 79 in steerage. Another list attached to the Lands and Surveys Department's files shed more light on the identity of the passengers while the Swan River Settlement's colonial returns for February 28 and March 30, 1831 almost completed the picture.
