THE LINE-ABREAST FORMATIONS
These formations
occur where three four or five
side-by-side, and are included particularly for experts
who like to see how accurately they can
be flown. The Red Arrows include
at least one of these formations within every year's display, because
they are particularly difficult to fly. The line
abreast position, alongside another aircraft, is most difficult to fly
because it
is very difficult to assess changes in distance between the two
aircraft. The references
that pilots usually use in order to judge how far apart they are, and
to determine if they're in the correct position are harder to identify.
