On
the 1st September 1964, The 3rd Battalion The
Royal Anglian Regiment came in to being when the
three East Anglian Regiment's became The Royal
Anglian Regiment. The 3rd Battalion was on
duty in Berlin, guarding the last three Nazi
War criminals, Rudolf Hess, Albert Speer and
Baldur Von Schirach in Spandau Prison, as well as
the Russian War Memorial and patrolling the Berlin
Wall.
|
|
It
is proposed to try and collect as much information
about the 3rd Battalion as possible in its short
28 year life before being Axed by the MOD and its
men integrated into the 1st and 2nd Battalion's.

|
I
could find very little information on the 3rd
Battalion although I later came across a very good
article written by Rod Leonard who had also served
with me in Support Company in Aden. I also
found several more old friend's and member's of
the 3rd Battalion on the Aden Veterans Association
Web site. Whilst searching for further information
I came across the official MOD web site which gave
very little information about the 3rd
Battalion.
|
|
I
also came across a few web sites for the 1st
Battalion but I found nothing for the 2nd and 3rd
Battalion, so I decided to create and dedicate
this site to the memory of all members of the old
3rd Battalion where ever they may be.
