DESS-12 and DESS-24 Diesel Engine Sound Modules

These units are improved versions of our popular Diesel Engine Sound modules, are suitable for use free-standing on the home or exhibition layout, or on board large locos above O gauge size.

A choice of power options is available (12 or 24 volts dc), and the modules feature simplified wiring to ride-on loco controllers, higher output power than their predecessors, and the ability to add extra speakers for even greater volume.

The engine noise effect is directly linked to track or regulator voltage, and varies from a rhythmic idle sound when the loco is at rest, to a full -bodied “roar” when the engine is in motion, with turbo " whine" if required. The idle speed is fully adjustable, as are maximum revs., turbo level, cylinder level, tone and volume.

Idle effect when loco is stationary, this changes to the sound of increasing revs. as loco moves off. The Sound Balance control allows you to adjust the relative levels of cylinders and turbo effect.
