Now
you can bring that
evocative "exhaust
steam sound" to
your layout or the garden
railway! These modules
generate a gentle, steady
"hiss" when the
train is stationary, the
effect changing to
"chuffs" of
"exhaust steam"
when the loco is in
motion. The rate of chuffs
is linked to track voltage
or regulator setting, and
are approximately matched
to the rotation of the
engine's wheels.
Each
unit measures 35 x 90 x
20mm, and is 12 - 18V d.c.
operated, from batteries
or a d.c. power supply.
Controls are provided for
overall volume, parking
hiss level, and
synchronization (the
latter is used to match
the chuff rate to the loco
in use).
When
reviewing the CM-2 in MODEL
ENGINEER, September
1995, Jim Robson described
it as "...very
realistic...".
N.B:
these units are not
suitable for DCC, or
controllers which
incorporate feedback.
