At Butterley Res a Twite in rough field alongside Sewage Works, also 18 Linnets, 2 Chiffchaffs, 2 Water Rail, 79 Tufted Ducks and 23 Wigeon. At Shipley Park a Red-crested Pochard on the American Adventure Lake, also Goosander and 15 Lesser Redpolls there. At Drakelow DWT Reserve (permit only) a Bar-tailed Godwit. At Carr Vale 2 Chiffchaffs and a Redshank still present.
3rd December
At Carsington the juv Great Northern Diver off Stone's Island again this morning. At Butterley Res an ad male Peregrine, 75 Tufted Ducks, 23 Wigeon and a pair of Gadwall.
2nd December
At Carsington 2 Bewick's Swans from the Sailing Club flying towards Sheepwash Hide, also the juv Great Northern Diver still present and a Grey Plover over. At Butterley Res 7 Goosander(briefly), 21 Wigeon, 2 Gadwall and a Water Rail.
1st December
At Carsington a juv Great Northern Diver off Stone's Island this morning, also the ad Ring-billed Gull in the roost from Lane End Hide at 15.20 hrs. At Foremark Reservoir 12 Goosander and 9 Yellow-legged Gulls in the roost. At Butterley Res 60 Tufted Ducks, 6 Pochard, 20 Wigeon, 1 Common Snipe, 149 Coots and 2 Cormorants. At Carr Vale 2 Chiffchaffs still present and 16 Pinkfeet flew NW.
30th November
At Ogston 5 Whooper Swans until 08.02 when they flew NE. At Carr Vale c240 Pinkfeet flew SE this morning. At Carsington the ad Ring-billed Gull in the roost from Lane End Hide at 15.30 hrs. At Butterley Res 60 Tufted Ducks, 7 Pochard, 38 Moorhens, 25 Wigeon and a fem Goldeneye.
29th November
At Carsington the ad Ring-billed Gull from Lane End Hide late afternoon, also 5 Yellow-legged Gulls (4 ad & 1 1stW) there. At Ogston c350 Pinkfeet flew SW between 12.15 - 12.20 hrs, also 12 Goldeneye, 3 drake Shoveler and c40 Lesser Redpoll there. In Matlock Forest 30+ Crossbills at Bottom Moor Plantation. At Carr Vale the 2 Chiffchaffs still present.
28th November
At Ogston a winter plumaged ad Great Northern Diver present from 08.20 until 10.31 hrs when flew off NE, also 1 drake Goosander flew N and c40 Lesser Redpolls by Carr Pond. At Shipley Park a very late House Martin by the American Adventure Park early afternoon. At Carsington 3 Whooper Swans from Paul Stanley Hide mid-afternoon for over an hour then flew off, also c55 Greylag Geese flew through and later ad Ring-billed Gull and 3+ Yellow-legged Gulls showing distantly in the roost from Lane End Hide. At Carr Vale 2 Chiffchaffs on the embankment.
27th November
At Foremark Reservoir 3 ad Whooper Swans at the Carver's Rocks end. At Carsington ad Ring-billed Gull from Paul Stanley Hide then flew towards Lane End, also Pintail and Yellow-legged Gull. At Carr Vale fem Blackcap present again. At Markham Vale c200 Golden Plover.
26th November
Near Shardlow 2 ad Whooper Swans by the Confluence of the River Derwent and River Trent. At Foremark Reservoir 9 Yellow-legged Gulls (7 ad, 1 3rdW and a 2W) in the roost. At Carr Vale a fem Blackcap by the Sewage Works entrance, also 93 Wigeon a fem Goosander and c400 Golden Plover.
25th November
At Carsington the ad Ring-billed Gull on Flat Island at 14.55 hrs, also 2 Yellow-legged Gulls, a male Merlin, 2 Ravens, a Pintail, a Shoveler and 12 Siskin there.
24th November
At Carsington the adult Gannet still present, also a 1stW Little Gull there and a drake Mandarin at the Wildlife Centre.
23rd November
At Carsington an adult Gannet this afternoon from Lane End Hide, present from 15.36 until at least 15.55 hrs when it flew towards the Wildlife Centre, also 4+Yellow-legged Gulls in the roost. At Carr Vale 230 Pinkfeet flew E.
22nd November
At Carsington the juv Great Northern Diver still present off the dam this morning, also 2 Pintail, and 4+ Yellow-legged Gulls in the roost. At Ogston a Red Kite flew NW 10.00 - 10.05 hrs also 2 Shoveler and 5 Goldeneye. At Foremark Reservoir 9 Yellow-legged Gulls in the roost. At Staunton Harold Reservoir 2 ad Yellow-legged Gulls mid-afternoon.

At Carsington a juv Great Northern Diver (new bird) present between Stones Island and the Sailing Club this morning, also 2 Pintail, 2 Water Rail and ad Yellow-legged Gull there. At Ambaston GP a Water Pipit this afternoon. At Williamthorpe 3 Jack Snipe, 20+ Common Snipe, 18 Wigeon, 5+ Water Rails and 20+ Tufted Ducks. At Linacre Reservoirs 45 Mandarins on the middle reservoir. At Foremark Reservoir 15 Goosanders and 5 Yellow-legged Gulls in the roost (3 ad, 1 3rdW and 1 1stW).

At Carsington the Great Northern Diver still present, also ad Mediterranean Gull and 4 ad Yellow-legged Gulls in the roost. At Butterley Res 11 Pochard, 17 Wigeon, a single Gadwall still and 65 Tufted Ducks. Also Chiffchaff there.

At Ogston a fem Red-breasted Merganser, also 5 Goldeneye, a drake Goosander and drake Tufted X Pochard hybrid. At Carsington the Great Northern Diver still present, also the ad Ring-billed Gull, an ad Mediterranean Gull and 4+ Yellow-legged Gulls in the roost. At Williamthorpe 2 Jack Snipe, 11 Common Snipe, at least 6 Water Rail calling and 1 male Goldeneye. At Butterley Res 18 Wigeon (new site record), 8 drake Pochards, drake Teal, fem Gadwall and 154 Coots.
10th November
At Foremark Reservoir 3 Common Scoter, also an ad Caspian Gull and 3 Yellow-legged Gulls in the roost. At Butterley Reservoir 58 Tufted Ducks, 7 drake Pochards, a site record of 17 Wigeon, a drake Teal and a single fem Gadwall. Also a Chiffchaff still present, c40 Fieldfare flew SW and another group of at least 400 which roosted in scrub at the north end at dusk. At Carr Vale a Goosander. At Renishaw Park a Goldeneye. At Wyver Lane a Shelduck, 5 Pochard, 2 Gadwall, 2 Shoveler, 2 Goosander, c100 Fieldfare and c40 Goldfinch.
9th November
At Carsington the Great Northern Diver still present off the Dam and 1+ Yellow-legged Gull in the roost. Near Tibshelf Services on the M1 c150 Pinkfeet flew W, also a further 400+ flew W near Junction 29.
8th November
At Carsington the Great Northern Diver, the Garganey, fem Common Scoter and fem Scaup still present, also 3 Red-crested Pochards in the north arm, 8 Pintail, a drake Mandarin. Later the ad Ring-billed Gull from Sheepwsh Hide 15.45 - 16.00 hrs then flew towards Lane End Hide, also 2+ Yellow-legged Gulls in the roost. At Williamthorpe 275 Pinkfeet flew W this morning and 5 Whooper Swans present this afternoon. At Ambaston 3 Whooper Swans on the River Derwent and nearby a Woodlark flew NW with 2 Skylarks over Ambaston GP at 10.26 hrs. At Ogston c80 Pinkfeet flew E at 09.30, c400 flew E at 12.05 and c140 flew E at 12.45 hrs. At Willington GP the Bittern again from the 3rd viewing platform, 1stW Scaup on the Canal Pit and a Yellow-legged Gull. At Tibshelt 61 Pinkfeet flew NNW at 13.35 hrs. At Long Eaton GP 2 Egyptian Geese on the River Trent. At Carr Vale a 2 Whooper Swans present briefly, also a Goosander and a Stonechat. 7th November
At Carsington a Black Redstart mainly on the Sailing Club roof but also gets on the Dam. Also the Great Northern Diver, fem Common Scoter and fem Scaup still present and later the ad Ring-billed Gull and 3 Yellow-legged Gulls in the roost. At Carr Vale a fem Merlin, 93 Gadwall, 73 Teal, 360 Fieldfare flew SW and 300 Pink-feet flew SE, but no sign of the Cetti's Warbler. At Ogston 2 Mandarin, 2 Goldeneye and a Peregrine.
6th November
At Carr Vale a Cetti's Warbler at 10.28 hrs but no sign later, also Green Sandpiper, Common Sandpiper 93 Gadwall, and 120 Pinkfeet flew SSE. At Carsington ad Great Northern Diver and Garganey still present. At Butterley Res 1415 Woodpigeons flew SW, 122 Redwings flew SW and 41 Fieldfares flew SW. Also a Chiffchaff still present, 14 Wigeon and a site record of 144 Coots inc 2 tiny chicks first seen 31st Oct.
5th November
At Carsington ad Great Northern Diver and fem Common Scoter from Lane End Hide, Garganey from Sheepwash Hide, also the ad Ring-billed Gull and 3 Yellow-legged Gulls in the roost from Lane End Hide. At Butterley Res 14 Wigeon, 716 Woodpigeons flew SW, 110 Fieldfares flew SW, 55 Redwings flew SW and a drake Goosander through. At Willington GP the Bittern seen again. At Carr Vale 100 Pink-footed Geese flew SE at 0908 hrs, 300 Golden Plover, 1080 Woodpigeon flew SW, 260 Fieldfare flew SW and 20 Redpoll flew S. At Renishaw Park a Lesser White-fronted Goose of unkown origin with Greylags.
4th November
At Carsington the ad Ring-billed Gull from Lane End Hide from 16.25 hrs. At Butterley Res 460 Woodpigeons flew SW, 740 Starlings flew W, plus a Chiffchaff & site record equalling 14 Wigeon. At Carr Vale 1 Scaup still present and a Chiffchaff on the Peter Fidler Reserve

At Carr Vale two juv Scaup (probably female) this afternoon. Also 109 Wigeon, 94 Gadwall, 55 Teal, 13 Shoveler and 100 Golden Plover. At Carsington a Great Northern Diver from Sheepwash Hide mid afternoon, the 1stW drake Garganey still from the Wildlife Centre until flushed late morning, also 2 Yellow-legged Gulls there. At Carsington 1stW drake Garganey still from the Wildlife Centre and the adult Ring-billed Gull from 16.05 hrs onwards and 2 ad Yellow-legged Gulls in the roost. Also at Carsington a fem Scaup, 7 Shoveler, 8 Goldeneye, 3 Pintail, 2 Raven and c100 Redwings. At Butterley Reservoir visible migration totals of c430 Starlings W, 193 Redwings SW c320 Woodpigeons SW, 16 Fieldfares SW and 5 Redpolls S. Also a Chiffchaff, 12 Wigeon, and single Small Tortoiseshell, Painted Lady and Comma. At Carr Vale 17 Shoveler and 190 Fieldfare SW.
1st November
At Carsington 1stW drake Garganey from the Wildlife Centre and a fem Mandarin from Millfields. Later the adult Ring-billed Gull from Lane End Hide late afternoon, also 2 ad Yellow-legged Gulls and a 1stW Mediterranean Gull in the roost. Also a fem Common Scoter and a juv Tern (Common or Arctic) flew N. At Carr Vale 18 Shoveler.
31st October
At Carsington the returning adult Ring-billed Gull from Sheepwash Hide this afternoon. At Ogston a Water Pipit flew SSW 10.32-10.34 hrs, 1 Dunlin flew S, also 4 Goldenye, 3 Shoveler, 2 Gadwall and 2 Goosander. At Willington GP a Red Kite flew E at 11.30 hrs. At Butterley Reservoir a Grey Plover flew SW at 07.16 hrs. In Matlock Forest 6+ Crossbills at Bottom Moor Plantation and 2+ in the Flash Lane area.
30th October
At Ogston 2 Little Egrets, and a fem/imm Goldenye, also male Stonechat and Water Rail still there. At Carr Vale a male Crossbill present from 08.50 - 09.00 hrs then flew E (7th record), 8 Shoveler, 53 Redpoll flew S and 150 Pinkfeet flew NW at 09.15 hrs. At Butterley Res 9 Wigeon and a late new brood of 4 Coots.
29th October
At Carsington a Garganey from Sheepwash Hide, also a fem Common Scoter and 2 Yellow-legged Gulls. At Poolsbrook an ad Yellow-legged Gull from 10.35 until 10.40 hrs when it flew S. At Carr Vale 75 Gadwall, 675 Wood Pigeon flew W, 30 Redpoll flew S and a Corn Bunting (first record since 2005). Also Common Darter and Migrant Hawker still on the wing. At Butterley Reservoir a Chiffchaff, 142 Coots (site record),2 Wigeon,2 Pochard,37 Moorhens,52 Mallard and 13 Great Crested Grebes.
28th October
At Ogston a Cattle Egret present on the West Bank from about 10.40 until 11.00 hrs when it flew off SW, also male Stonechat still there. At Carr Vale a singing Chiffchaff, 78 Wigeon, Water Rail (heard), c350 Golden Plover and 245 Fieldfare flew SW. At Carsington ad Caspian Gull and 2 Yellow-legged Gulls in the roost. At Butterley Reservoir a Peregrine, 2 Wigeon, 2 Pochard, 11 Golden Plover flew E, 3 Snipe flew E, and c200 Fieldfare flew W.
27th October
At Carr Vale 47 Teal, 315 Fieldfare flew SW and 375 Redwing flew SW.
26th October
At Carr Vale 1475 Pink-feet flew SE, but no sign of the Cattle Egret today. At Shipley Park a juv/fem Garganey and a drake Mandarin on Osbourne's Pool. At Carsington an Osprey reported this morning, also Mediterranean Gull present again. At Ogston 2 ad Whooper Swans present for about 30 minutes mid-morning.
25th October
At Carr Vale a Cattle Egret arrived from the north at 08.15 and present around the reserve pools until early afternoon but no sign at 15.00 hrs. (The 5th for the county following the ones in 1996 and 1986/7 with two records in the 60's (1966 and 1968). Also Peregrine and up to c250 Golden Plover in the area. At Ogston a Water Rail showing well on the Dragonfly Pond, also male Stonechat and 4 Ravens there. At Carsington fem/imm Common Scoter, 3 Pintail, Shoveler, 2 Yellow-legged Gulls and an ad Mediterranean Gull at 14.50 hrs.
24th October
At Willington GP2 Red-crested Pochards and 2 Pintail on the DWT Reserve Pit, also a Rock Pipit on the Canal Pit. At Carsington a Rock Pipit on the dam. At Wyver Lane a Jack Snipe at the southern end of the main pool.
23rd October
At Willington GP the Bittern seen from the 3rd viewing platform again this morning, also 2 Red-crested Pochards on the Fishing Pit, a Ruff on the Canal Pit, and 2 Green Sandpipers and a Common Sandpiper. At Williamthorpe 4 Jack Snipe and 28 Common Snipe. At Carsington 5 Red-crested Pochards, ad Yellow-legged Gull and later 2 Mediterranean Gulls in the roost.
21st October
At Willington GP the Bittern showing well from the 3rd viewing platform at 14.27 hrs.

At Wyver Lane c300 PInk-feet Flew NW at 09.05 hrs, 2 Water Rails, 27 Snipe, 94 Teal, 6 Shoveler, 4 Wigeon, 3 Goosander, male Sparrowhawk, 162 Black-headed Gulls, 3 Grey Herons, 3 Cormorants, 8 Meadow Pipits, 2 Linnet, 6 Redwing and a Skylark.
18th October
At Willington GP a Glossy Ibis flew NNE at 10.31 hrs, also 3 Green Sandpipers there. At Matlock Forest 18 Crossbills flew S over Screetham Lane at 08.15 hrs. At Upper Loads migrants counted during the morning were 235 Redwing W, 400 Woodpigeon S, 4 Bullfinch W, 35 Brambling W, 13 Crossbill W and 2 Peregrines.
17th October
At Upper Loads migrants counted during the morning were 2450 Redwing W, 487 Fieldfare W, 2995 Woodpigeon S, 790 Pink-footed Geese in 6 skeins, 28+ Skylark S, 21 Brambling W, 29 Bullfinch W, 20 Great Tit W, 5 Coal Tit W and 690 Starling W.
16th October
At Willington GP 2 Red-crested Pochards on the Canal Pit. At Ogston a male Stonechat.

At Carsington a Great Northern Diver circled the reservoir then flew off N at 10.15 hrs. At Ogston 2 fem Common Scoters this morning.

At Willington GP a pair of Red-crested Pochard, a drake Common Scoter and a Water Rail showing well from the first viewing platform. At Carsington 5 Common Scoter, 5 Pintail, 2 Shoveler,a Yellow-legged Gull, a Dunlin and 55 Redwings.

At Willington GP a Ruff on the Canal Pit this afternoon. At Wyver Lane a Jack Snipe showing well behind the Island briefly at 09.30 hrs, also 12 Common Snipe, 135 Redwings, Water Rail, 200 Black-headed Gulls, 4 Shoveler, a Skylark over, 62 Greylags, Green Woodpecker and 20 Long tailed Tits. At Foremark Reservoir an ad Yellow-legged Gull this morning.

At Mam Tor a Common Crane flew over heading towards Kinder Scout at 11.40 hrs. At Willington GP the Bittern seen again this morning from the third platform, also 3 Green Sandpiper on the Canal Pit and a Jack Snipe showing from the first viewing platform. At Wyver Lane 50+ Rewdwings flew W this morning.

At Willington GP Bittern seen early morning. At Ambaston an ad Whooper Swan with Mute Swans on the River Derwent. At Ogston 3 Rock Pipits present, also 1 Brambling and c20 Redwings flew W.
10th October
At Derby a report of an ad Common Crane in a field alongside Uttoxeter New Road at 08.45 hrs, but no sign later. At Ogston 2 Pintail arrived with 23 Wigeon and circled the reservoir for some time before flying off, also 2 Rock Pipits from 13.25 - 13.35 hrs when they flew off NE. Also there today 1 Mandarin, 2 Raven, a Blackcap, several Chiffchaffs, c35 Redwings flew W and the Chiloe Wigeon has returned. At Carsington the fem Common Scoter still present, also 2 drake Red-crested Pochards from the Wildlife Centre and Yellow-legged Gull from Sheepwash hide.
9th October
At Pleasley Colliery a Whooper Swan flew SSE mid-morning, also c50 Pink-feet and a Green Sandpiper flew over. At Butterley Reservoir c220 Pinkfeet flew W this morning and Water Rail heard. At Ogston a Whooper Swan present late morning but flew NW mid-afternoon, also 2 Swallows and several Chiffchaffs. At Foremark Resr Mediterranean Gull and Yellow-legged Gull. At Carsington a Pintail.
8th October
At Smalldale 12 Crossbills over the bridleway at approx SK 095774 but no sign of the imm/fem Black Redstart today. At Willington GP 3 Green Sandpipers on the Canal Pit, also a Ruff there briefly.
7th October
At Smalldale a imm/fem Black Redstart on the roof of a ruined barn by the bridleway at approx SK 095774. At Long Eaton GP a Ruddy Shelduck on the Pylon Pit until 09.30 when it flew E with Pink-feet. At Foremark Reservoir an ad Yellow-legged Gull by the tower this morning, also 65 Pinkfeet flew NW. At Carsington c50 Pink-feeet flew W at 10.40 hrs. At Carsington a Rock Pipit on the Dam, also 5 Buzzards, Raven, Yellow-leged Gull and Chiloe Wigeon.

At Carr Vale Shovelers increased to 7, 5 Wigeon remained (present all month) and a Common Gull was seen.
5th October
At Carsington 3 Whooper Swans flew N at 10.05 hrs. Also 6 Crossbills, Raven, Yellow-legged Gull, 3000 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, Common Sandpiper, 3 Buzzards, 4 Linnets, Chiloe Wigeon and Kingfisher. At Bolsover c75 Pinkfeet flew NW over Welbeck Road at 17.50 hrs. At Carr Vale 35 Teal, 6 Shoveler, Peregrine, Water Rail (showed on reserve pond by the bridge over the Doe Lea), 20 Golden Plover, 10 Snipe, 32 Herring Gulls south (first movement of the autumn), 3 Common Gulls, 2 Redwings and a Tree Sparrow. Also 4 Migrant Hawkers and 2 Southern Hawkers.
4th October
At Ogston 2 Whooper Swans arrived from the N at 11.20 then flew off NE at 11.42. Presumably the same 2 arrived from the SE at 12.05 hrs and flew NW, also 4 Golden Plover flew N, 2 Hobbies, a Dunlin and a Tufted X Pochard hybrid. At Carsington a fem Common Scoter (4th day), a Common Sandpiper, 3+ Yellow-legged Gulls and the Chiloe Wigeon still there. At Willington GP a Ruff on the Canal Pit. At Butterley Reservoir visible migrants between 0705-1100 hrs included 91 Meadow Pipits, 13 Pied (alba) Wagtails, 11 Siskins, 1 Redpoll, 4 Yellowhammers, 29 Skylarks, 11 G.Plovers, 2 Tree Sparrows, 5 Swallows, and 40 Finch sp. Also 3 Teal, 28 Tufted Ducks, 5 Common Buzzards, 4 Sprarrowhawks and 1 Chiffchaff. At Carr Vale 15 Cormorants, 110 Pink-footed Geese flew SE, 34 Gadwall, 32 Teal, 11 Buzzards (viewed from the mound), a Peregrine, a Water Rail and 9 Siskins flew S. An excellent day for Dragonflies saw the first record for the Carr Vale area of Black Darter when Jim Alder found two males on the top Peter Fidler Pond and a probable third insect was adjacent to the reserve pond but flew off before positive id could be made. This is the 20th species of Dragonfly to be seen at Carr Vale. Other dragons icluded 50+ Common Darters, 6 Migrant Hawkers, three Southern Hawkers and a late Blue-tailed Damsel. A Comma was also seen.
3rd October
At Ogston 3 Mandarins, a Golden Plover flew S, a Peregrine, 5 Goosanders flew S, a late Hobby and a Tufted X Pochard hybrid. At Carr Vale 6 Shoveler, a Water Rail and a 1st winter Common Gull.
2nd October

At Carr Vale the female Shelduck reappeared, 3 Shovelers, a Peregrine, 2 Water Rails (one showing well from the mound), 29 Golden Plover flew N, 2 Yellow-legged Gulls came onto the pools and 2 Siskins flew N.

At Ogston a Glossy Ibis flew N late morning, also 13 Pinkfeet flew W, 2+ Hobby, 1 Mandarin, 1 Redwing, and the Chiloe Wigeon still there. At Williamthorpe a Jack Snipe. At Stubbing Court Lake late news of a juv Red-necked Phalarope present yesterday evening. At Carr Vale 11 Pinkfeet flew NW at 09.40 followed by another 40 at 12.35 hrs. Also 32 Teal, a Peregrine, 38 Skylarks (including 17 SE), 94 Meadow Pipits and 165 Swallows flew S as did 6 out of 7 Siskins seen during the day and 2 Painted Ladies. In the Goyt Valley 40 Pink-feet flew N near Fernilee Reservoir at 11.15 hrs. At Belper c100 Pink-feet flew W this morning.

At Trent Meadows a Whinchat and nearby at Long Eaton GP a Greenshank on the Conservation Pit. At Ogston an Osprey flew towards Carr Wood carrying a fish at 13.00 hrs, also 2+ Hobby, 2 Raven, 20 Wigeon and the escaped Chiloe Wigeon.

At Ogston a juv/fem Marsh Harrier arrived from the west at 14.25 and slowly drifted northwest until lost from view about 14.40 hrs, also 2+ Hobby, 1 Raven, 1 Mandarin and 3 Wigeon. At Kilburn an Osprey flew over this morning. At Carr Vale 15 Common Buzzards up at the same time, also Peregrine, Water Rail heard, 2 Tree Sparrows flew S and a Roe Deer.

In the Beeley Moor area the juv Montagu's Harrier seen over fields by Rodknoll Farm at 08.40 hrs, later seen over Harland Edge then flew S until lost from view beyond Screetham Lane at 10.00 hrs. Also c20 Buzzards, Peregrine, Hobby, Merlin, 2 Ravens and c75 Linnet in the area. At Ogston the Osprey still present, also 1 juv Peregrine, 2 juv Ringed Plover, 1 Green Sandpiper, 1 Greenshank and 2 Common Sandpipers. At Carsington Yellow-legged Gull, Red-crested Pochard, Shelduck, Common Sandpiper and 26 Mistle Thrushes.

In the Beeley Moor area the juv Montagu's Harrier seen again on Harewood Moor early morning then flew S at 07.15 hrs, then seen hunting near Beeley Triangle mid morning and on and off around Harland Edge early afternoon, later on Harewood Moor again at 17.20 hrs but elusive. At Ogston an Osprey present this evening from 17.20 to 18.50 hrs at least.

At Barrow-upon-Trent GP an Egyptian Goose in fields to the west of the pits view only from the footpath at Ingelby.

At Willington GP the Black-necked Grebe still present on the Canal Pit, also 5 Yellow Wagtails and 2 Green Sandpipers there. Also at Willington an Osprey over the main DWT pit at 09.35 hrs, a Little Egret flew towards Newton Solney and 3 Avocets on the new workings (no general access to this area) until midday when they flew off E. At Carr Vale a total of 64 species recorded today including 3 Pink-footed Geese, 8 Greylag Geese, 2 female Goosanders, 7 Buzzards in the air to the south (viewed from the mound), 2 Oystercatchers, 250 Golden Plover, a Curlew flew W, 65 GBB Gulls, 30 Sand Martins flew N, 3 Swallows, 26 Meadow Pipits flew N, a dead Chiffchaff with a ring on (details to BTO) and four species of Butterfly.

At Howden Reservoir an Osprey flew NW at 15.15 hrs and nearby a Great Grey Shrike alongside the A57 from the layby 1.5 miles E of Ladybower Reservoir. At Foremark Reservoir the Red-necked Grebe still present c.300 metres east of the visitor centre by the inflow early afternoon. At Carr Vale a Red Kite flew SE at 10.00, also a singing Blackcap, 3 Pinkfeet, 2 Oystercatchers, 14 Snipe, a Curlew flew S and 11 Buzzards seen.

At Ogston 5 Tundra Bean Geese arrived fron S at 07.02 and left to SE at 07.08 after circling the reservoir several times, (possibly the same birds were seen distantly heading NW a few hours later). Also at least 3 House Martin and several Sand Martins. At Carsington A Red-throated Diver from Sheepwash Hide this afternoon, also at least 1 Great Northern Diver still present. At Foremark Reservoir a Red-throated Diver off the Dam this afternoon and the Red-necked Grebe still present. At Arkwright Town a Red Kite flew over at 14.00 heading towards Carr Vale. Also at Carr Vale was a Swallow (earliest ever record), 5 Sand Martins, 13 singing Chiffchaffs, 3 Pink-footed Geese, 6 Grey Lag Geese, 82 Wigeon, 20 Gadwall, 31 Teal, a pair of Shoveler, 6 Buzzards, 3 Oystercatchers, 250 Golden Plovers, 4 Redshank and 3 Little Owls. At Carsington at least 2 Great Northern Divers still present off Stones Island, also drake Common Scoter and fem Scaup from Paul Stanley Hide, ad Yellow-legged Gull and ad Caspian Gull from Sheepwash Hide. At Kedleston Park the White-fronted Goose still present with Greylags opposite the Golf Club entrance. At Cromford up to 4 Hawfinch in trees by the Willersley Castle entrance. At Foremark Reservoir 5 Whooper Swans flew over at 09.40. At Ogston a fem Crossbill feeding on Yew berries with Greenfinch at Brackenfield Church, also 2 Shoveler, 2 Goosander, 4 Woodcock, Barn Owl and drake Tufted X Pochard hybrid there. At Church Wilne Reservoir (permit only) the Red-necked Grebe still present.
