At Ogston a partial summer plumaged Curlew Sandpiper on the West Bank. Also 2 Dunlin, 2 Little Ringed Plover and Shoveler there.
23rd July
At Ogston the Little Egret still present, also 2 Shoveler, 3 Common Tern, ad Yellow-legged Gull and a male Red-veined Darter.
22nd July
At Willington GP a Spotted Redshank on the DWT reserve pit viewable from the 3rd platform. At Ogston the Little Egret still
present. At Wyver Lane a juv Cuckoo today, also Hobby and a Barnacle X Greylag hybrid.
21st July
At Ogston a Little Egret this afternoon,also 1 fem Common Scoter, 1 Black-tailed Godwit, 2 Common Sandpiper, 1 Little Ringed
Plover and Hobby. At Willington GP Turnstone, Black-tailed Godwit, Green Sandpiper and an adult Yellow-legged Gull. At
Carsington a drake Common Scoter present.
20th July
At Barrow-on-Trent GP 2 Whimbrel and a Little Egret over. At Ogston 2 Crossbill flew WNW, also Peregrine, 2 Common Sandpiper,
1 Little Ringed Plover, Hobby and 2 Ravens. At Carsington a 3rdS Yellow-legged Gull. In Matlock Forest still 30+ Crossbills
at Bottom Moor Plantation. At Bradley Pond 53 Mandarin today.
19th July
At Ogston 2 Black-tailed Godwit, 9 Redshank, 5+ Common Sandpiper, 1 Little Ringed Plover,1 Dunlin and Hobby. At Willington
GP a 2ndS Caspian Gull this evening. In Matlock Forest still 30+ Crossbills at Bottom Moor Plantation.
18th July
At Ogston a Whimbrel flew SW early afternoon, also 4 Shoveler, 10 Common Sandpiper and a Dunlin there. At North Wingfield a Whimbrel and a Curlew flew WNW at 10.00 hrs
17th July
At Willington a Little Egret flew S along the River Trent at 10.16 hrs. At Ogston a Sanderling present in the evening.
14th July
Between Weston-on-Trent and Swarkestone a Little Egret seen in flight north of the River Trent at 15.00 hrs.
13th July
At Shipley Park a Black-necked Grebe on the old American Adventure lake. At Ogston a Crossbill, 4 Little Ringed Plovers,
2 Raven, 2 Common Tern and Hobby.
12th July
At Long Eaton GP a Black-tailed Godwit on the works pit and a Hobby over. At Ogston a Greenshank, 4 Little Ringed Plovers,
2 Common Tern and Hobby. Also a fem Redstart at Brackenfield Church.
11th July
At Carr Vale a Hobby showing very well, also a drake Wigeon (second July record for the site), 3 Little Ringed Plovers, 2
Common Sandpipers and a Cuckoo.
10th July
At Ogston a juv Black-necked Grebe present in Chapel Bay. Also 7 Little Ringed Plovers, Peregrine and Barn Owl there. At
Willington GP 7 Black-tailed Godwits on the Canal Pit. At Carr Vale 2 Hobbies, 2 Peregrines and a Common Sandpiper. Also
2 Roe Deer, Marbled White, and good numbers of Ringlets.
9th July
At Willington GP a report of a very early juvenile Caspian Gull, also ad Yellow-legged Gull and a singing Grasshopper Warbler
there. At Carr Vale a record count of 296 Sand Martins flew S over 5 hours, also Hobby, Oystercatcher, Little Ringed Plover and
Common Sandpiper. Also at Carr Vale a report of a Red-tailed Hawk flying over.
8th July
At Ogston a Green Sandpiper, 5 Redshank and a Shoveler. At Carr Vale 1 Hobby, 1 Peregrine, 1 Little Ringed Plover and a Marbled
White.
7th July
At Foremark Reservoir a 2ndS Caspian Gull present during the evening. At Ogston a Barn Owl in the evening, also 8 Little
Ringed Plovers and a juv Ringed Plover there.
6th July
At Willington GP 2 Wood Sandpipers still present on the main DWT reserve. Also at Willington 18 Black-tailed Godwit, 2
Green Sandpiper, 2ndS Caspian Gull and 4 Greenshank flew through. At Ogston a Black Tern, 1 Greenshank, and a Black-tailed
Godwit (which was present briefly early morning only). Also 1 Ringed Plover, 4 Little Ringed Plovers, 7 Common Sandpipers, 3
Oystercatchers and a Hobby. At Carr Vale 16 Black-tailed Godwit flew south. Also Whinchat there (1st July record since 2003)
and one of the Common Tern chicks has now learnt to fly. At Pleasley Colliery 27 Black-tailed Godwit flew east in two flocks.
In Matlock Forest still 40+ Crossbills in Bottom Moor plantation.
5th July
At Willington GP 2 Wood Sandpipers and at least 1 Yellow-legged Gull today. At Middleton a Red Kite flew over the B5035
from the National Stone Centre heading towards the Via Gellia. At Carr Vale 2 Greenshank dropped in briefly
during a shower. Also Common and Green Sandpiper, 2 Ringlets and 3 Marbled White Butterflies (the latter presumed released)
and the American Bullfrog still there. At Middleton Moor 2 Yellow-legged Gull (ad & 2ndS). At Longstone Edge good numbers
of Dark Green Fritillary today, also good numbers of Meadow Brown, Small Heath, Small Skipper, Common Blue and Brown Argus
there.
4th July
At Glapwell a White Stork flew over heading towards Pleasley Pit at 15.15 hrs. In Millers Dale a Quail calling near Litton
Mill. At Carsington 2 Whimbrel from the Wildlife Centre this afternoon. In Matlock Forest still at least 8 Crossbill in
Bottom Moor, also Hobby, Tree Pipit, several Common Lizard, 2 Ringlet Butterfly and a Black-tailed Skimmer there. Also 7
Crossbill in the Flash Lane area.
3rd July
At Crich a Red Kite flew over this morning. At Allestree a Red Kite over Ford Lane this morning. At Willington GP a
Black-tailed Godwit on the spit. At Ogston 2 Little Egrets present during the evening.
2nd July
At Wyver Lane a Green Sandpiper, also a Hobby this morning and 2 Ravens flew W.
1st July
At Ambaston GP the Black-necked Grebe still present. At Carr Vale a Hobby present again, and also what appears to be a very
large American Bullfrog present there.
30th June
At Carsington a Black-tailed Godwit present from the Wildlife Centre.
29th June
At Carr Vale a Black-tailed Godwit present briefly at 10.24 hrs. In Matlock Forest still quite a few Crossbills around.
28th June
At Carr Vale a juvenile Garganey today and a Hobby showing well over the reserve. At Ambaston GP the Black-necked Grebe still
present. In Matlock Forest still 50+ Crossbills in Bottom Moor Plantation and other flocks in the Flash Lane area. At Ogston
a Ringed Plover, 5 Common Sandpiper, 2 Crossbill and 2 Raven.
27th June
At Carr Vale 2 Crossbill flew NW this morning (6th record for the reserve and the first since July 2005) and 2 Hobbies
showing well over the reserve. Also 2 Greylag new in and an Oystercatcher there. At Willington GP a 2ndS Yellow-legged
Gull on the spit. At Ogston 2 Ravens, 8 Gadwall, 4 Little Ringed Plover and 2 Common Sandpipers.
26th June
At Ambaston GP the Black-necked Grebe still present. In Matlock Forest c30 Crossbills still present at Bottom Moor
Plantation. At Carr Vale a Hobby seen several times this morning showing well over the reserve. In Derwentdale an
adult female Red-footed Falcon reported flying west into the valley, seen from Back Tor.
25th June
At Carr Vale a Hobby this morning also 3 Teal, 2 Oystercatchers, 2 Little Ringed Plovers, four Common Terns (with three
chicks) and an early Siskin flew north.
24th June
At Ambaston GP the Black-necked Grebe still present. At Willington GP the Knot still present on the spit.
23rd June

At Staunton Harold Reservoir a probable Black Kite flew W at 13.40 hrs. In the Goyt Valley 15+ Crossbills present.
15th June
At Hathersage an Osprey flew ESE over the River Derwent alongside the B6001. In Matlock Forest 12 Crossbills flew over Flash
Lane. At Ogston a Ringed Plover this evening and a Curlew flew N.
14th June
In Matlock Forest still 50+ Crossbills in Bottom Moor Plantation.
8th June
At Ogston a Red Kite drifted S over Highoredish at 13.12 hrs. Also Crossbill at Highoredish. In Matlock Forest still quite
good numbers of Crossbills in Bottom Moor Plantation. At Willington GP 2 Red-crested Pochard still present and a Grasshopper
Warbler near the canal. At Shillito Wood at least 25 Crossbills present.
7th June
At Pikehall a Red Kite over fields SE of the village viewed from the A5012 (SK 197590). In Matlock Forest still good
numbers of Crossbills (100+) in Bottom Moor Plantation and 21 flew over Flash Lane.
6th June
At Willington GP 2 Red-crested Pochards still present and a Marsh Harrier flew W. At Ogston an imm Yellow-legged Gull
present this morning.
4th June
At Ogston a Great White Egret present on the West Bank this morning from 09.28 until 10.25 hrs when it flew off NE.
3rd June
At Willington GP the 1st summer female Red-footed Falcon still present this morning, but no sign later. Also a Sanderling
present on the Canal Pit this evening.
2nd June
At Willington GP 1st summer female Red-footed Falcon sat in a Willow from viewing platforms 2 & 3. In Matlock Forest still
100+ Crossbills at Bottom Moor Plantation.
1st June
At Ogston 4 Black Terns and 2 Arctic terns present from 08.40 - 08.45 hrs when they flew N. Also ad Kittiwake present from
10.45 - 10.53 hrs then flew N and a Red Kite flew NW between 11.50 - 11.55 hrs. At Willington GP eight Sanderling on the
Canal Pit this morning (four still present during the afternoon), and 2 drake Red-crested Pochard on the main DWT pit. In
Matlock Forest 170+ Crossbills at Bottom Moor Plantation.
31st May
At Ingelby the female Red-footed Falcon still present by the River Trent. Park in layby by the river opposite minor road to
Stanton at SK.341.273, then walk west through the village and take footpath on right beyond last house following river for
approx 1 mile to view. Also an Osprey sat in a tree where the power lines cross the river. At Willington GP an Avocet and
a knot. In Matlock Forest at Bottom Moor Plantation 100+ Crossbills and nearby c50 Crossbills at Hell Bank Plantation.
30th May

Also 19 Ringed Plover and 3 Dunlin there. Nearby 2 Turnstones on the main pits and a Red Kite flew over Willington towards
Repton at 14.35 hrs.
27th May

approx 1 mile to view. Please keep to footpaths and do not enter crop fields in the area. At Willington GP 2 Temminck's
Stint and a Sanderling present late evening on the Canal Pit. At Ogston drake Shoveler, 2 Ringed Plover and a Dunlin present.
26th May
At Ingelby the female Red-footed Falcon still present by the River Trent. Park in layby by the river opposite minor road to
Stanton at SK.341.273, then walk west through the village and take footpath on right beyond last house following river for
approx 1 mile to view. At Rowsley an Osprey fishing in the River Wye W of the villiage near the A6/B5056 junction late
morning. On Beeley Moors the male Black Grouse present again this morning, also a Red Kite (wing-tagged from the
Leicestershire release program) present this morning. At Ogston a Red Kite arrived from the west at 12.40 then drifted off S
at 12.45 hrs also Hobby, 1 Ringed Plover and a Dunlin present. At Aston-on-Trent GP a Knot present (no access, view
only from gate by A50).
25th May

approx 1 mile to view. At Ogston a Greenshank present early morning then flew NE also 2 Ringed Plover still present.
At Aston-on-Trent GP 3 Greenshank and a Sanderling today (no access view only from gate by A50). At Linacre Reservoirs 6
drake Mandarins on the top lake.
24th May
At Ingelby the female Red-footed Falcon still present by the River Trent. Park in layby by the river opposite minor road to
Stanton at SK.341.273, then walk west through the village and take footpath on right beyond last house following river for
approx 1 mile to view. Also Red Kite seen again today. Please keep out of crop fields. At Ogston 4 Ringed Plover today and
the Tufted X Pochard hybrid still present. On Beeley Moors the Male Black Grouse still present in fields NE of Beeley Lane
between Gladwin's Mark and Beeley Triangle. At wiilington GP a Turnstone on the Canal Pit this morning and presumably the
same bird present on the main pits during the afternoon. Also 2 Dunlin and 3 Wigeon on the main pits, 8 Ringed Plover and
Dunlin on the Canal Pit. At Carr Vale an adult Kittiwake present this morning until 09.10 hrs when it flew N. At Allestree
Park 6+ drake Mandarins on the upper lake.
23rd May
At Ingelby the female Red-footed Falcon still present by the River Trent. Park in layby by the river opposite minor road to
Stanton atSK.341.273, then walk west through the village and follow footpath on right beyond last house to view from higher
ground by the river. Also Red Kite over and Little Egret on the river. At Ogston 7 Ringed Plover today.
22nd May
At Ingelby a female Red-footed Falcon by the River Trent. Park in layby by the river opposite minor road to Stanton at
SK.341.273, then walk west through the village and follow footpath on right beyond last house to view from higher ground by
the river. At Beeley Moor a male Black Grouse in a field between Screetham Lane and Beeley Triangle. At Willington GP a
Sanderling on the Canal Pit.
21st May
At Ogston a Sanderling present on the West Bank to the right of the Members Hide. At Carr Vale a Black Tern flew N at 12.02
hrs. At Carsington a 1st summer Little Gull present until 11.30 hrs only.
20th May
At Carr Vale an Osprey flew S at 10.05 and was still in view until it was seen heading SE over Tibshelf at 10.20 hrs. At
Aston-on-Trent GP an Avocet, a Turnstone and a summer plumaged Knot visible from the gate by the A50 (no access onto the
pits). At Carsington a Turtle Dove visiting the feeding station by the Wildlife Centre.
19th May
At Barrow-on-Trent a female Red-footed Falcon apparently present by the River Trent for an hour, but no further details.
18th May
At Ogston a male Grey-headed Wagtail present from 09.20 - 09.40 hrs when flushed by boats and flew NE. Also still 1 Ringed
Plover there. At Willington GP 2 Avocets from the 2nd viewing platform, (3 reported later) and a Honey Buzzard flew over the
first viewing platform at 14.44 hrs, before drifting off towards Repton. Also a Wood Sandpiper and 3 Dunlin on the Canal Pit.
At Arnfield Reservoir a Red Kite flew NE at 08.20 hrs.
17th May
At Willington GP 4 Turnstones from the second viewing platform. At Carsington the Grey Plover still present this morning,
on Stones Island. At Aston-on-Trent GP a Wood Sandpiper present, viewable from the gate by the A50. At Ogston 2 Ringed
Plover, a female Greenland Wheatear and the Tufted X Pochard hybrid still present.
16th May
At Willington GP 2 Sanderling present this evening. At Carsington a Grey Plover on Horseshoe Island from the Wildlife Centre.
Also Greenshank there. At Ogston a Grey Plover at 15.00 hrs.
15th May
At Ogston a Black Tern present 10.30 hrs and an Osprey present 17.40 - 17.50 hrs when it flew NE.
14th May
At Carr Vale a Ruff, 2 drake Shovelers, 2 Common Sandpipers and 2 Teal.
13th May
At Manners Wood near Bakewell a Red Kite flew N at 15.30 hrs. At Wyver Lane a Wood Sandpiper today. At Carr Vale a
Curlew flew N, also Dunlin and Common Sandpiper there.
12th May
At Sawley a Ring-necked Parakeet flying around the Wilne Road/Repton Road area. At Carr Vale a late Redwing and a Grey
Wagtail, also a late record for this site.
11th May
At Carr Vale a Marsh Harrier flew SE at 09.25 hrs. At Carsington a drake Garganey from the Wildlife Centre today. At
Willington GP a Black Tern (present for its second day). In Matlock Forest 15+ Crossbills in Sitches Plantation.
