EQUIPMENT

Filtration consists of a fluval 404 canister filter linked to an ultra violet sterilizer this is a very important bit of equipment as It will kill most micro-organisms. I also use a fluidised bed filter as well. I have three power heads connected to a surge control unit to create water movement with in the tank. I also use a protien skimmer to remove pollutants that my other filters fail to eliminate . I skim very hard with my skimmer that's why I normally dose twice a day with additives. My lighting is on timers and come on through out the day. I have three coralife 10.000k tubes these come on midday and act as the midday sun. My two-triton day light tubes are the first to come on. I have one blue actinic tube this stays on night and day I do not turn it of. The tanks lighting is on for eleven hours a day in the summer in the winter I will change this to nine hours a day. I have two heaters operating one at each end of the tank. At the moment the tank temperature is a bit on the high side so I have employed a large fan to blow over the water surface. All my electrical equipment is run through a circuit breaker this is the most important piece of equipment.
