What is a D.A ?
DA stands for District Association and typically relates to an area of the country that is geographically linked. For Solent D.A. this link is via the post code beginning with 'PO'. So, any member who has a post code starting with PO is automatically a member of Solent D.A.
Except the Isle of Wight, which has its own D.A.
However, any member of any DA can camp with any 'DA' and can chose to belong to any D.A. through opting to do so.
There are 13 Regions in the Camping & Caravanning club, which are divided into 93 District Associations or D.A's
Each D.A. arranges Meets or Rallies in the Associations area along with social events etc and these are open to any member of the Camping and Caravanning Club. There are also activities arranged for youth members (Camping Club Youth - C.C.Y) and these meets are open to any youth member of the Camping and Caravanning Club.
When you join the Camping and Caravanning Club, as above, you automatically join your local Association which covers your postcode area (printed in bottom left corner of the membership card), your club handbook details each District Association and which area it covers, however you can camp with any D.A. regardless of where you live. Have a look in your copy of the Out & About (free every month with your copy of the clubs magazine) for details of DA & Region meets & rallies throughout the country. As said, as a member of the Camping & Caravanning Club you can camp at any DA or Section arranged meet. All D.A's and sections welcome new campers!
To find one of our meets that you fancy, please see the Site list page to find something of interest to you, it may be a quiet weekend or one of the larger meets or a H.S. (Holiday Sites).
Please feel free to contact us if you would like more information.
Each D.A. has a committee of individuals who are not paid and give up their time voluntarily to support running of the section and providing meets for the members. |
