Collecting
since I was very little...
|
Ever heard of the Forth Road Bridge Project? It takes four years to
paint it from one end to the other and when they're done, they start
over! Well this is similar to my dusting regime, to answer all the
enquiries I have had on the subject. And yes, it is a big house which
is why it doesn't appear too cluttered. I like to display my collections
around me - it is home!
My name is Tony, born in London in 1960, educated to degree level (in Biology) and then worked in IT for eighteen years (hardware and software instead of wetware - not a lot of difference !) I started out as a professional gardener, but the all-weather aspect of that job made me turn to an indoor career. When I started working with computers I found that I understood them - I don't know why. I enjoy many hobbies and many interests in life, and this website is one of my hobbies, which illustrates that collecting is another of them. I also love animals and animals love me - at one time I had an indoor aviary with over 30 birds. My last bird, a cockatiel named Shadow, died at 18 years of age early in 2007. I shall miss him as he had learned several tunes he liked to wake the neighbourhood up with, most of them copied from various ice-cream van jingles over the years. His favourite was the tune to Laurel and Hardy. |
The pictures on the following pages illustrate some of my collections and how I have displayed them.

and one from Nabisco. I used to spend all my pocket money on Magic
Roundabout Biscuits to get the Nabisco series, and at that time never
completed any one set. My mother occasionally reminds me of the time,
after the Nabisco series had disappeared from the shops, upon entering
a bric-a-brac shop in Norfolk, of my rather over-excited reaction
to finding a green Brian the snail (a character that had eluded me
until then). Well, I was young...
