Goldfly GF-ES2007

Another variation on a theme. Also appears similar to the iSound product seen at ASDA.
The distinguishing feature of this variation is that it has a full size USB connector on the top.

This has a full size USB 'B' female socket at the top in addition to the co-axial power socket at the bottom. This device looks similar to the CY-668A at first glance but apart from the three memory buttons at the bottom. Further scrutiny reveals that the case is a lot thicker and has a full sized USB 'A' socket at the top. It has ten memory channels.

ASDA are selling a similar looking device under the name iSound. It is sold bubble packed and retailing at about £17 with no power leads. Imported devices usually come with a cigar lighter power lead which plugs into the bottom.

LCD display unit is similar to the Belkin and similarly has auto power down if no audio is received within a timed period. Having done so, the display blanks, and it does not re-awaken when audio is detected. It won't even power up when the power button is pressed. The only way of re-starting is to remove power and re-apply.
This was one of the biggest problems with this unit, but the team was hard at work in finding a solution. Triumph as we will, here is the no shutdown mod

This device has an EEPROM and like the FM-162, it does not have a separate stereo encoder chip. This is tied up with the 'blob' under the display. Herein lies another problem. If we can't get at the MPX and pilot filters, we won't be able to clean them up. There's certainly room for improvement in this area because as ever, this is where the designers have been skimping.

Otherwise, the audio sounds good with a good bass response, low noise floor and no squealing.

Dissasembly relies on removing the escutcheon on the front, revealing three screw heads.
